With the injuries this season, Staley and staff have done a fantastic job just keeping the Chargers in the hunt. They should be applauded for their efforts! Not a chance Staley is released......and while Payton is a good HC, not a chance Spanos would pay what it would cost, thankfully. You flip flop alot... Do you just sometimes want to be a contrarian? Sometimes you defend the front office vehemently, in other posts you're calling for the coordinators to be fired. Which is it? No flip flopping AF..... I believe TT has done a great job managing the Club, nothing has changed there. I do not believe Staley should have been allowed to go into this season with Hill as the DC, the change should have been made last January. The Chargers are still hanging around, who gets the credit for that if not the Coaching staff?

People get credit for that? Injuries injuries injuries, the excuse that helps me sleep better at night. Injuries is why we have a bench, which is why depth is important. Herbert, Ekeler, Mack, Joseph-Day, James, Tranquill, Everett, and the Oline (Salyer) should get credit for us being 5-5. Luck also gets some credit...

I give Staley credit for '21-'22 FA/ draft player choices. We entered the season with what many considered a top 5 roster. Scheme , coaching? Meh. Injury has had an inarguable impact but adjustments, game time decisions? Maintaining W-L status quo w/'21 is not adequate. If we're not moving forward, we're losing ground. TT: Get me 5 W's or better to finish or there will be some coaching change(s). DC / OC are on hot seat. HC is warm.

Yep. You can emphasize player competition, you can talk about gritty tough games and ball playing Jessie’s but if you can’t make the playoffs with Justin Herbert you should be unemployed With the injuries this season, Staley and staff have done a fantastic job just keeping the Chargers in the hunt. They should be applauded for their efforts! Not a chance Staley is released......and while Payton is a good HC, not a chance Spanos would pay what it would cost, thankfully. There’s enough data to suggest this coaching staff doesn’t adjust and isn’t competent, as you’ve pointed out in the past.

How in the world do we STILL have one of leagues worst defenses??? My sense is that it’s primarily coaching, scheme fit, and preparation. Injuries certainly play a role. But the bottom line can’t be ignored either.

Their halftime adjustments seem to always be poor. I do not know if the statistics support that view. I have no idea what the process is at halftime, but I would suspect adjustments are generated by the OC/DC, but ? Staley is improving as a HC, his 'visionary' approach aside, enough so that not a chance Spanos releases him. Lombardi will point to the injuries, but I do not like his play calling...... Hill is terrible, and should have been replaced last January......

I think Staley has his strong points, and some weak ones. Staley should have brought in a DC, Hill is not the answer. So that is a mistake that lands on Staley's lap, he owns it. Other than that it appears the club responds to Staley still, they compete for him.....or so it seems from this distance. Not a chance Spanos makes a HC change. Lombardi is adequate, at best......I do not like his play calling in general, hate his adjustments, believe this offence talent has much more to it than what is showing. That lands on Lombardi's lap, as his poor utilization of the available talent is clear, and makes his seat warm..... Hill is a disaster, should have never been DC to start this season. He is gone at season end.....if I was in charge. Will Staley see it as I do..... The organization in general gets the credit for staying in the hunt. It seems like everyone has adopted the positive attitude in a challenging season. The injuries are significant, not just in the numbers of them, but also in the 'who' that has been lost. They are not an excuse, but to not acknowledge them is similar to not acknowledging other negative aspects from this season. They simply are a reality, a very unpleasant one, eh. Luck always gets credit......

I realize Staley comes from that side, and certainly has a say at critical moments, but I just do not believe Staley is making every D call through the game.

If I am TT, there is a serious discussion with Staley about the coaching structure on the D side. The results scream change is needed..... Bring in an experienced, proven, DC...... Have an agreement with Staley that during games the influence Staley has on D play calling is nuanced. IE 'let's be aggressive here', or 'let's go full bltz', or 'let's be smart, not too aggressive'.....but the actual call is the DC's to make. For whatever reason, what they are doing is clearly not working, as the statistics and D rankings speak loudly. If Staley refuses, fire him on the spot.

The ownership already bought his sell of goods that he was this defense genius. Now you want them to admit they were wrong. No coach wants his replacement to be on the staff with him, and an "experienced, proven, DC" is exactly that.
