No, not really. His being back might help his perceived value, might hurt it as well. I would have traded him last off season, or tried to. This off season might be too late to get enough value, as he does have serious talent. Might be best to keep him versus taking a late 2nd and a 4th......or something like that, clearly below his value. If some GM wants to offer up a high 1st.......easy decision for me, but that is why I asked you all. Trading Bosa would have brought on a huge cap hit that would have resulted in the Chargers not being nearly as active as they were in free agency. Besides JC Jackson, the rest of the free agents are playing a huge role in the improved defense. Releasing Bosa brings on that cap hit, trading him sends the cap hit with him.

Trading or releasing Bosa accelerates the huge signing bonus cap hit. The Chargers would have absorbed it, not the team trading for him.

Good to learn....thx! That’s why the Broncos are royally screwed: even if they found a trade partner willing to take on his contract, the remaining $40 million of his $50 million signing bonus spread over five years will hit Denver. They are stuck with him. 🤷♂️ In comparison, most of Derek Carr’s contract extension is in his 2023-2025 salaries ($40+ million per season). I don’t see anybody willing to trade for that contract, so Carr will likely be released within 3 days following the Super Bowl when his 2023 salary with the Raiders locks in.

He’s apparently fixed some issues that have been bothering him for the past 2 years related to his core and is feeling better than ever. He says his individual training drills he’s been doing to prepare reflect that. We may be getting a better Bosa back.

Besides JC Jackson, the rest of the free agents are playing a huge role in the improved defense. Its just crazy talk and will be soon forgotten when we see the pass rush come alive even more in the next month + As I was reading through some of these posts wanting to trade away or get rid of Bosa- even the ones just speculating that it would somehow be beneficial- I cringed harder than seeing a furry on a leash being held by a half-naked fat drag queen with green hair and face piercings at a Kindergarten class. Joey Bosa is a star and a top defensive player in the league. There's no way we can get comparable value for him while he's in his prime. You may argue his injuries have kept him off the field and that's no good for us. But injuries happen, deal with it. You may speculate that his mental state is insufficient. But when he's on the field he's a terror so what he goes through off the field is irrelevant. Let's hope he's truly recovered and we can see he and Mack and the rest of the newly improving defense wreck opponents in the playoffs! Bolt up.

If Joey is playing at 80% or better then he’s a tremendous asset. If he’s playing at less than 80% then it’s questionable given his cost. All assets have a value and all players in the NFL (typically excepting a star QB in his prime) are to some degree available on the market. Holding the asset or trading the asset for other or future assets is a business calculus. I’m not strongly for or against trading Bosa at this point; we’ll see how it goes for the rest of the season.

The belief "There's no way we can get comparable value for him while he's in his prime." is simply incorrect.

All assets also have a shelf life, and shrewd GM's know when to capitalize on an asset being overvalued.

I believe.....the Chargers are getting healthy at the right time.
I believe.....a healthy roster will be dangerous, as was projected by the pundits last preseason.
I believe.....the recent win streak is from beating clubs they should beat.
I believe.....Lombardi is still boring, and Staley doesn't blitz enough.
I believe.....the Chargers will win in round one of the PO's....won't matter who they play!
