Ok folks, LETS TRY THIS AGAIN !!!
Now I warned you guys all off season about using magic unicorns to replace what Tyrell Williams brought to the table at WR. We had fun debating, and discussing production, etc etc.............
NOW I AM REALLY REALLY warning you about using action jackson's to replace the running, receiving, blocking, decoy, what did I leave out COMPLETE NFL WORKHORSE TALENT OF OUR NUMBER 1 RUNNING BACK.
Think before you tread.
No doubt dude is our best option at running back and is a top 5-10 talent at his position. All that being said, a Good O-line makes up for not having a top tier RB. Oh in that case we should be good. I'll check with the goalie to see how good our run blocking O line is................................

That can wait until later. wait till its 3 weeks before the season starts. If he is not in camp by then... They may be able to do a new contract this season as in during it. But not before. Huh ? They can do a new deal over breakfast tomorrow if they want to.
I'll have McRugby break it down for you.
Not if they want PR, Bosa and others in 2020. Irreplaceable Bosa will get a new deal before season 5 of rookie contract starts, not the fungible RB. And they’ll lock up PR over the next 6 weeks with hardly any cap space available, not Gordon. You got it right when you said “wait for 2020, we’ll take care of you then” is what Melvin and his agent were certainly told. RB’s have no leverage in the NFL, so he’s likely to be in uniform in late August at the latest.

Lawyers.........................Just because I know what TT will say, Know what MG will say, Know that goalies are brain deprived, doesn't make any of it correct................except the goalie part..........
They could throw him some extra juice this season, and tell him he is getting a new contract after this year.
I've seen other teams do it.

Can't a player hold out until game 6 or 7, then show up and get an accrued season, which would essentially fulfill Gordon's contractual obligations to the Bolts.

Good teams? With very good RB's?? I'm drawing a blank - even the Steelers didn't do it with the best RB in the league. One exception was the Rams with Gurley, but of course they had their starting QB drawing a rookie contract who made about $20 million less than a franchise QB ... and the Rams may very well go the franchise tag route with Goff rather than give him a market franchise QB deal.

Yes, they can hold out and get their accrued season. It used to be until Week 10, but it may be shorter under the new CBA. VJ and McNeill did it back in the day, but they were RFA's. Bell was a UFA who didn't sign the franchise tag contract. In Gordon's case, he's under contract in 2019 for $5.7 million. Not only will Melvin be forfeiting each week's game-check ($335,000 / week), but he's subject to daily fines that start accruing the day that he fails to report to training camp. Alas, Melvin has very little leverage with a holdout. My guess is that he reports in late August and the Chargers waive the fines that have accrued. Start missing games, I'm betting the fines will stand.

What is wrong with people. If he really wants top RB 💰 trade him or let him sit - not worth.
What is more important here is how the Chargers will handle it in order to avoid future mess with upcoming contracts.
Bye Mel.

It was a very good team. I don't recall typing RB specific. Steelers and Antonio Brown come to mind, and I think they did it twice. In 2015 they gave him 2 million dollars in the summer so he wouldn't hold out.

8 mil signing bonus, 27 mil guaranteed, and over 13 mil average salary is telling as well.
