The GM who did that getting fired is telling as well. The emperor has a special place reserved for you.

I think that the major differences between Donald & Gordon are that DT isn’t a fungible position and Donald is a unique generational talent. I miss Sam Fortier when he was the beat writer for the Chargers at The Athletic. Hammond is a serious step down.

I still follow Fortier on Twitter as I saw no need to remove him from my list because he is a very good writer. Unfortunately, he was moved to covering the Washington Nationals for The Athletic.

Sidenote but I can't seem to find older article on the Athletic for some reason. Do you happen to know how? The furthest it will back is December 2018. I was trying to look up an old article about Melvin last year and the training he did to stay healthy.

Dude just wants to miss training camp. He'll be back by preseason week 4.

A good discussion to kick off ESPN's "NFL Today" episode today, but no mention at all regarding the need to sign PR and Bosa (next year), nor any mention of the Chargers' salary cap situation or the manner in which they have awarded good soldiers over the past half-dozen seasons.
I go back to the thread starting post: new deal or not (Schefter is reporting that MG and agent are looking for a top-of-the-NFL RB deal). Gordon reports before the start of the season IMO.

I think MG got some really bad advice....playing this out in the news is a non starter as it just gives legs to a story that didn't need to be a story Good running back but not great...should have had his agent do his job and try to get something done without the drama but that seems to be the way the NFL works now days. Oh well...if he plays....great....if he doesn't he doesn't...the season will still go on as it always does.

8 mil signing bonus, 27 mil guaranteed, and over 13 mil average salary is telling as well. The GM who did that getting fired is telling as well. For one, there is far far far more that went into that firing. For two, the player got paid either way.

I am actually feeling Gordon's position here. He has to try to get his now. He is just protecting himself, I don't blame him. You get your big contract after your rookie deal. He waits this year out, and he will be one year older in a position that doesn't have the value that it used to, and is very leery about age.
Telesco has options here. Including, here is a big deal after this season, or you can have this smaller deal now.
How about a 2 and 1. 2 year contact, 3rd year team option.
Lots of options.

Gordon is a good back but not a generational one. Offer him something rational and trade him if he doesn’t want it. If he’s going to be cancer cut him out.

OR, He's the Number 1 RB for many many reasons, don't offer him something irrational, and hope that his career long Great representative for the team, which is the opposite of cancer, stays the same.
He has done everything, and I do mean everything, the team has asked of him. On and off the field.

Plenty of options....like not doing anything. Gordon can play, or sit.....his choice. He is under contract, and that means the organization holds the better cards. The Bolts do not need Gordon to win, having him just makes winning more likely.
