Isn't it funny he is STARTING Jones, and Stick can come in later against the 5th team depth.............. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm............... AL + Jones sitting in a tree......... I think Jones starting is more of a reflection of vet respect, but with AL and his love child, who knows. I agree Jones starting is a reflection of veteran respect- so that Jones can showcase himself and get signed to another team's practice squad after he's cut this weekend.

We finally have a good back up since forever in a day. TT, ain't giving him up so easy. Indy has two first rounders next draft............. He sits. From what I’ve seen he’s not good enough to get W’s if tragedy strikes. There’s a reason teams let him go in favor of rookies in consecutive years. I also happened to like what I’ve seen from Cardale and stick this pre season.

Taylor has a 23-21-1 record as a starter for the mighty Buffalo Bills and Cleveland Browns, including leading the Bills to their first playoff berth in almost 20 years. He’s good enough to win with the 2019 Chargers roster if catastrophe strikes.

Yet neither team thought he was worth keeping around as a back up.🤷🏽♂️ Cardale and Stick are probably equally as capable of winning a game or 2 with this Chargers roster

The funny thing about it is - we are VERY unlikely to play whoever the backup is. We're also unlikely to keep three QB's. Someone has to go to the practice. Just one of several tough decisions to be made.

Just one of several tough decisions to be made. IMO They'll almost certainly lose Stick if they try to waive and move him to practice squad. A complete waste of a 5th round pick if that happens. As an aside: Taylor won't be traded as they paid him a $5 million signing bonus. His salary is only $1 million for 2019, so the Chargers would take a $4 million cap charge if Taylor isn't on the roster.

He's fine. He will come in and win you some games if needed. One of the top backups in the league. Your over-reaction to one play is noted.
He's locked into Number 2. No reason for him in PS4.

Exactly. It's not complicated. The Bolts invested in both Taylor and Stick this off season. They gave Taylor a sizable chunk of change and used a 5th round pick on Stick. That tells me that meant to keep both. Cardale just made it a little more interesting with his solid play this preseason.

I do find the Cardale hate interesting though. I get that he sucked his first two preseasons here. But why the vitriol? Why be unhappy when he had success this preseason. He’s been a low cost investment for the Bolts and from all indications a good teammate and model citizen.
The way he was received by some fans while those same fans seem to treat and accept Easton Stick (who btw played worse than Cardale this preseason) like a long lost son is baffling.

Cardale was pretty much a hot mess in PSG1, let's not crown him yet.
I don't think there's any reason to hate him. He's probably a good enough guy.
Personally, I just hate the idea of burning a valuable roster spot on him. Hated it in 2017, will hate it in 2019 if it happens.
Further, I hate the idea of burning a roster spot for any qb3. I also hate the idea of flushing a 5th round pick down the toilet. So it's pretty much hate-hate proposition for me this year.

I think the OC summed it up best when Cardale threw that great TD pass: "Where has that been for 3 years ?" "I look at your whole body of work, not one play or one game." Iron Fist coaching in the middle of PS. I likey.
