Duke Johnson is a third down back. Their offense is built around ball control. What a stupid move to give up a 3rd round pick for a third down back. Don’t see them giving up an even higher pick and paying MGIII $13 million / season with two full seasons guaranteed for knee-injury prone MGIII.That would be a panic trade that will damage the franchise long-term, but if they gave up a 3rd round pick for a third down back, maybe they can be suckered into another short-sighted trade. Gordon played in 12 games last year. Bosa played in 7 with a broken foot every year. Let's give him a mega deal.

No club is trading for Gordon, as he simply is not worth the contract he seeks. Chargers won't trade because they are stuck not getting what they want for him. In other words, his agent is overestimating his client’s value when he has a year left on his contract. Teams aren’t willing to trade more than a ham sammich for him when they have to overpay MGIII on the other end. Duke Johnson was relatively easy to trade as he was willing to play under his current contract.

Bosa played 16 games in one of his three seasons (same as Gordon in four seasons) and plays a position with massive importance throughout the league where the player continues to ascend until 30 as opposed to start declining in the mid-to-late 20’s as injuries affect their performance. Once again, you’re comparing apples to oranges in your “analysis”.

It's irreplaceable. Foot arthritis has started.

Might be true, but there simply is not any club that feels Gordon is worth the contract he seeks, or so I believe. One week away from things getting really serious between player and club. If Gordon no shows for the start of practices for G1, then my thought is he stays away until required to get the season counted and contract fulfilled.

You missed my post exchange with Moe quite a while back: IF Bosa has durability issues for the 3rd time in 4 years, then he's gots to wait for his megadeal upon his rookie contract expiration. If Joey wants to get his money early in that situation, he has to take a haircut; if he wants the megadeal, he would have to prove it in year 5 just like Ingram did. A healthy Bosa is much more important to this roster than a healthy Gordon. Bigger impact, and plays a much more difficult to replace position.

There is no way in hot hell Bosa has a good year this year and doesn't demand a new contract. By no way, I mean no freakin' way.
C'mon man, its me.

MGIII would really be rolling the dice in that situation. Chargers would fine him $30,000 for every training camp session missed, and he'd miss out on every regular season game check played prior to his reporting plus four extra paychecks for missing the four preseason games. We can do the math if he stays out until Week 10: he'd essentially be playing the 2019 season for less than seven figures with no safety net should he suffer a serious injury after he reports. The smart move would be reporting in time for Week 1 by either playing for the current $5.5 million & become a UFA at the end of the 2019 season or sign the $10/ million per season offer on the table. We'll see if he makes the smart move.

We have a plan.

I just have this feeling Gordon believes the BS he has been fed, and goes all in for that bigger contract.

The CBA allows for fining the player a regular season game check for missing a preseason game via holdout.....so Gordon would lose game checks for the first 9 games he held out, then the first four games he was back.....expensive decision on his part.
