thannah40 trying to divert from Rivers' suckitude is awesome. Hi LTOCB! I've (mostly) loved Rivers for a long time, but he's regressed a bunch for whatever reason. If I was smart enough to post a pic... HH and Ekeler both wide open (and I mean WIDE OPEN -- nobody else in the frame) for an easy first on one of his bonehead picks. Seems like the dude just can't read a secondary anymore. Some would say he never could... But I digress. Shit team, shit coach, shit QB, shit stadium, shit fanbase, shit owner, shit o line, plenty to go around. I said it earlier in the thread, but coaches are clearly playing to not lose by much. Well done, keep the remaining few partially engaged. Hey at least the Lakers are fun to watch again. And the handle of Sailor Jerry's was just cracked open. So a good night to all. For me, the reason is pretty clear. I listened to Tom Brady this week. He said their defense and special teams are playing great. He was saying he was frustrated with himself. He is solid this year, but look at his numbers. Those are not Tom Brady numbers. Our Champ/Pro Bowl QB's have simply gotten old. Happens to every great long term QB. Tom is a freak to be playing at 42 in the modern era. Every QB falls off at the end. Peyton Manning crashed straight down. His brother Eli slow faded straight downhill. It happens, and its happening. The Chargers will give Rivers his extension, and our hopes will be renewed for next year. Healthy--look at our roster----etc. Only time will tell. Hopefully he has that one more year left in him. If we tank enough this year, I would draft a QB and only give Rivers a one year extension. Tua might be available and we love injured players anyway.

Rivers is 38, has thrown 7 interceptions in the last 3 games and has 9 kids. Time to retire and enjoy life.
Fire Lynn, fire Telesco and start over in a new stadium. The owner is never going to sell, so we are stuck with the tard..
Bring in some talented scouts and build through the draft.
Hope that in 5-7 years the team is fully functional again.

I want them to tank now to get better draft positions.
But, you have to stop the insanity. Bench Rivers for Tyrod Taylor right now.

Right picks, right Free Agents, right cuts. That's all it takes.

Good thing the team practiced in altitude before this one....sigh. The Ingram penalty on the fumble recovery play was the turning point in this one.
Very sad, not much more to say than what has already been said. What an amazing ride it has been with Phil for the past 13 seasons, can't believe it may be over.
It is not just a loss and another season coming to an end, it is the end of an era and I'm not ready to see another QB under center wearing bolts.
From SuperBowl hope in September to this just two months later.

"Injuries and a bad Oline. All will be well this offseason. Here is your extension Phil."
I know them better than they know themselves.

That's what needs to change. Doesn't matter if they go 16-0, they will manage to lose early in the playoffs. They need a coaching staff that can rebuild from the ground up, not just blow money on some free agents that do nothing once they get their fat contracts. They need a head coach that isn't a deer in headlights. Been watching this team for 40 years plus. They have had countless HOF players, something is rotten in this team at it's very core. It's the ownership and i'm not sure any players / coaches can overcome that.

Over a 40 year time, the organization has been owned by a number of different people, so your theory about it being the owner doesn't hold water.

What is driving the results for this season specifically are:
1.....injuries
2.....poor talent in the reserve players
3.....uninspired coaching, poor game plans
Can't do squat about #1 Can't absorb missing on 1st and 2nd rd picks (the last two years, 4 picks in those rounds, and 3 of the 4 are not contributing as they need to be) Fire the entire coaching staff......

The fish rots from the head down. I don't know what the hell that means, but they rot from the guts first.
At least the conversations are matching the lows of the team. So that's good.
(If fish float/swim sideways, can it be from the head "down" ? hmmmmmmmmm)
