Dear Frank, You are praying its a multi-year thing, but that don't mean it is. You don't want a QB problem and the only way its a multi-year is with success in year one. Even then, PR will want paid on a multi-year for an aged QB. The front office will need Xanax at that point. He's on a one year deal now. He has signed up to be the HS Head Coach. You have to run at least two games deep in the playoffs to even have a shot at multi-year. That's a guess. But its probably a pretty damn good guess.

But I think Rivers likes playing and winning. Give Rivers the hint of being in playoff games and he come back the following year.

His son won't be in high school until the fall of 2022, and I don't see PR wanting / demanding a multiyear deal at this late stage of his career. He's not in it to milk out one last big payday, he's searching for a ring before he wraps it up.

I will be rooting for the Colts this year as well. As long as they dont play the Chargers. It will be very interesting to see how Phil performs behind a better O-line and a more consistent running game. I think he has some juice left in the tank.

It gives them security, and they can leave on their own terms at any time (retirement). Brady is 51 and got a multi-year contract. The little bugger got 50 million dollars guaranteed. He can fall off the face of the earth and still get 50 million dollars. Lets take the halo off of Rivers and get back to business here. What is this place coming to when I have to explain the players side on contract negotiations, to A CONTRACT LAWYER ?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! I suppose that makes me, me. I LOVE me some ME.

Sure he'd like it, but the Colts aren't going to offer and he isn't going to demand. It will be a year-to-year deal that could end after the first depending upon how the 2020 season goes.

Rivers is set financially speaking, I would guess, so his continued play seems to be about chasing that Super Bowl. Year to year works for both club and player, in my view.

Nothing about this is shocking to those of us that have watched Rivers over his career. I think Indy is going to have a great year!
