The Los Angeles Chargers and restricted free-agent running back Austin Ekeler have agreed to a four-year, $24.5 million deal that includes $15 million guaranteed, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter on Friday. The source said Ekeler, 24, could make up to $26 million over the course of the deal through incentives. www.espn.com.au/nfl/story/_/id/28851620/source-chargers-rb-austin-ekeler-reach-4-year-245m-dealThis is a great start to a big offseason! EDIT: Saw this on reddit, created a thread and now see the news was announced by moekid in the FA thread, don't want to steal anyone's thunder: moekid Football Guru Ekeler signed. 4 years $24.5m with $15m guaranteed. Sounds fair to me. Glad to have Austin!

Whoo-Hoo! Great to see. And that seems like a very good deal for a good RB, meaning fair to player and team. Way to go Ekeler!

I wouldn't hate to see Melvin Gordon added at a below market value price, just don't think it will happen though.
Of all the signings over the years, I think Ekeler is of the few that I don't think anyone can find an issue with. I imagine universal praise from fans.

Telesco going to work. He should have had a ski mask on when they signed the contract because that is a STEAL for the Chargers.
Ekeler could have easily argued for WR money considerations. Great team deal.

I am hearing the Chargers are letting Gordon test the open market. Have you heard that ? Sometimes, I like that. In this situation its a good scene. If he can't get more than our offer, he can come back. I believe he can get more than our offer out there. PS No. I don't need to know what our offer is either.

I also think he can get more out there, but I still don't think he will get what he is looking for. If he is looking at 9-10M from some other team and 7-8M from the Chargers, it would be interesting to see what happens.

He is awfully loyal to "the team that drafted me". He hasn't forgotten that. If we do 8 mill, and he sees 9 million tops, he could come back.

@camronweiss of @dynamicsportgrp and @chargers ’ EVP Ed McGuire have been negotiating the deal since early January.

Did you know Ekeler led all RB's in:
92 catches with ZERO drops.
THAT is freakin' CRAZY.

I believe he feels that he "owes" something to the team, players and fans of the Chargers. And I believe they all think the same thing. It may weigh into his decision making process and could lead to both sides coming together again at a fair below market value deal. Everyone on Twitter and Reddit is laughing at Gordon and the idea him signing elsewhere. I still think he is valuable to this team, just maybe not as valuable he thought he was during the 2019 offseason and subsequent holdout.

Great deal... We all said how important this particular off season is, and TT seems to be making the most of it so far.

We got a pro bowl snub for a great deal. Coupon God Telesco is at it again, except he actually is fixing up our OL... I think...

I wanted to post a thought on the LACK of activity with free agent RBs!
Not counting RBs that were secured by their current team (Henry, Drake, Hunt, etc) I think Jordan Howard is the only RB to get signed so far, and there isn't much on the rumor mill.
How much does Melvin Gordon regret not signing a $10 million per year contract with the Chargers last year? ? ?
And congrats again to the Chargers and Ekeler for getting a good deal done!
