Marcus Mariota. Won’t break the bank. West coast ties. Falls perfectly under the TT mid level FA umbrella. Great athlete (ran a 4.48 40) that Lynn can proclaim will complete with Tyrod for the starting QB job. Not sexy but relatively low risk high return FA. He is awful and always hurt. I'm not picking on your post. He's just awful and always hurt. I want nothing to do with him. I'll really prove my point: I would actually go with Taylor over him.

If we had a better HC and OC I wouldn't mind Mariota... We just don't have the personnel to try and "fix" a vet QB.

I never said that I was an advocate of this move. Unlike like you, I used rational thinking and past history to predict future decisions Taylor’s career QB rating is 89.8. Mariota’s is 89.6. Teddy Bridgewater’s is 88.3. So maybe quit making stuff up. You also know what Mariota has that the other two don’t? A Heisman. Second overall pick in the draft. Much easier to market compared to journeyman Tyrod Taylor. Much easier on the pocketbook than Bridgewater. Optics matter big time in this situation.

The real version is he freaking blows hardcore and is always hurt. There ya go. Heisman's have a history of failure and Ryan Leaf was a second overall pick of the draft too. So there ya go sporty spice. (the name we don't use here)

What people are missing is sdc is not endorsing the signing of Mariota, rather sdc is saying the signing is right along the path TT generally takes on these signings, and I agree. Unless TT views Mariota as the QB that will take them to the Super Bowl he should pass on this signing.
