Would you quit flip flopping on Murray. Either like our new rookie, or hate him. Your fear of getting something wrong turns my stomach. Look at me. Bold as hell with my views. Hate him love him something. Quit hedging your bets. The fear of being wrong just drips off of you. If you get it wrong, like the Chargers selecting Simmons which was dead wrong BTW, no one is going to take your birthday away for Pete's sake. I like Murray, and believe he will be a solid LB for the club. My complaint is the cost of picks needed to obtain Murray. Not cost in that the trade was inequitable, rather the poor use of that draft capital. The Bolts simply needed that 3rd rd pick to obtain an OT, in my view. If Herbert develops into a franchise QB, then the transition from one franchise QB to the next will be considered genius......if he doesn't...... Pipkins was a 3rd round OT.

Allow me to translate: I didn't get my Simmons so Herbert better be a Pro Bowler week 1. It doesn't work that way, the team already said he has all the time he needs-- no pressure. Meh, play Tyrod if we have to. Ease the rook in if we have to. Wait a year if we have to. Tyrod is the puppet on our string. What you didn't know, he was their puppet the entire time.

Two independent thoughts: 1) Given how things played out, I don’t think this draft was ever going to be about OL. They wanted their QB and some skill positions to win now. They will probably do more on the OL this year via FA and potentially trade. Drafting OL will obviously likely start next year. 2) By my memory, the QB selected was one that many people, including the two of us, liked before the draft.

Herbert was the QB I preferred over Tua, but I was clear about not taking a QB with the 6th pick. So I am happy TT chose the QB I would have chosen if I had to take a QB with that pick. Let us all hope Herbert becomes better than Rivers.

I have stated I hope Herbert becomes that franchise QB, and cannot state my support any more loudly for Murray than I have, yet you want to attack any discussion about how the draft went, or could have gone. Other views, ideas, approaches, the good, or bad.....any of it. Why are you even on the board? All you want is everyone to get in the line you decide, seems counter to the concept of the discussion board.

Huh? I thought we would take QB, LB, RB, WR for sure. CB instead of S. I thought there would be an OL in the mix. Herbert was my early (Jan-Feb) #6 fav but gravitated to the Simmons-Okudah-Brown talent as the draft got closer. So- TT took his QB for the future. Tyrod will start 2020. I missed the boat on Murray but love the pick none the less. Size, talent, speed, quality stud. Perryman has been undependable, Tranquill is a starter and the rest are just potential. Love the WRs! Reed- 6-0, 220 man. Not an easy take-down, can work from the backfield. 5 KR TDs, Wow! Put the ball in his hands. KJ Hill, top slot receiver. Terrific #7 value. Kelley was on my radar after watching his Sr Bowl performance.

All draft picks are dart throws. You’re definitely standing further back in the 2nd and 3rd rounds though. I have no problem with trade’s cost.

Upon further review... I am loving this draft. Yes, I was not on the Herbert train and I was disappointed when he was taken over Simmons at pick six. But here's where my head is now on each pick- 1) Justin Herbert: All QBs- heck, maybe all rookies!- need time to develop and acclimate to the pro game. It's going to be faster and more complex than anything in the college game. Many of the top current NFL QBs all sat their first year (Mahommes, Rodgers, Rivers, Brees, Brady, many more). So if a team needs a face-of-the-franchise- QB, they need to draft him a year early. Which is what the Chargers did with Herbert. He can play behind Tyrod and soak up some knowledge from NFL coaches and veterans his first year and take the reigns next season. A lot of the negatives about Herbert- inconsistency, decision making, etc- can hopefully be coached up so that his positives- size, arm strength, intelligence, mobility- can be maximized. Again, I wasn't down with this pick pre-draft but in thinking that a QB needs a whole year, I can now get behind it and look forward to seeing Herbert blossom. 2) Kenneth Murray: I could care less about the trade or value, blah blah blah. We got a terrific LB! Sideline to sideline speed and run stuffing ability, smart, experienced, a leader. I've heard some say he's not great in coverage; this is literally the only knock people have come up with. Let me remind everyone- he's a linebacker! Coverage is not his primary task and there isn't a LB in the league who wants to end up covering Keenan Allen or Gronk, etc.. So this is a "So What?" complaint. Kenneth Murray is a stud! 4) Joshua Kelley: Good backup RB to complement Ekeler and Jackson. More power than those two. An asset to the RB group, not a clone of someone we already have who would be relegated to playing only if there was an injury. He got better each year at UCLA and I see that trend continuing- I think his best football is still ahead of him! 5) Joe Reed: The most intriguing pick of our draft! I never heard of him before Saturday. But he looks solid in the size department and is just fast enough. If all he did was return kicks and punts I'd be fine with this pick, but the team has indicated Reed would also get snaps at WR and RB in the offense. Versatility allows for creativity and creativity interests me a lot! 6) Alohi Gillman: Another player I never heard of before Saturday, and a position I didn't think we'd draft this weekend. But after some research- and seeing some videos of him drafted- I can't help but love this guy! My first thought is a special teams demon, and if that's all he does it's good enough for a sixth rounder to make the team and make the team better. In a crowded safety room, he may not play many defensive snaps but he's the kind of player you overlook and then he exceeds your expectations. (ala Drue Tranquill last year??) And it seems his character is off the charts: www.msn.com/en-us/tv/celebrity/get-to-know-alohi-gilman/vp-BB12sh3O www.chargers.com/news/alohi-gilman-draft-reaction 7) K.J. Hill: Are you kidding me??? K.J. Hill was still there in the SEVENTH round?? Unbelievable! This could be the steal of the draft! Such a reliable, consistent WR, great hands, fantastic route running, quick, reminds me of a slightly smaller Slayer! I'll call it now that Hill becomes our third receiver and our primary slot receiver! Nothing against Joe Reed drafted earlier, but Hill is such a great fit for what our WR corps lacked that he'll be the #3 receiver. And he'll be the QB's safety blanket because he'll be exactly where he's supposed to be and he won't drop anything that comes near him! I'm surprised we didn't draft offensive line or a tight end in the later rounds. Maybe those XFL guys we signed will be better than we think?? But I'm happy with the players we drafted and top to bottom they all seem like men we can be proud to have on our team and players selected intentionally to fill specific holes. Bolt up!

Just a great post -draft post. You know how I am about late/7th round picks. But Jackson has helped the RB depth, I sure hope K.J. Hill does the same thing. I think he gets a real chance. In my Freak mind, which I know not everyone see's things the way I do, Travis Benjamin leaving created a hole in our WR depth. Would be great if Hill could fill it. There are things about Kelley I don't like. I see indecisiveness and slow to react around the hole. BUT our RB group has opportunities for him in the depth. Lynn used to be an NFL RB, so he can help Kelley. Good luck to our Rookie Class this year !!!

Remember when you were told if you are taking a test and are not sure about a question, always go with your first answer ? That's what that was.
