I know you are a big Joey guy, Joe. We are all happy we keep our DE. But you have to admit, that's a LOT of cheddar right there. The biggest defensive contract ever ?? Right before they are going to cut the Cap space down around the league ?? We have top team guys all coming up on their contracts, you can kiss some of them goodbye. We now cannot sign them. Sure hope Bosa plays up to ALL of that. Best contract ever, goodbye Charger stars ? I disagree. You must think that the Chiefs are going to be left with Mahomes, Chris Jones and a bunch of nobodies as their contracts expire since no stars can be signed, correct? There's a lot of money coming off the cap next year (Perryman, Taylor, Pouncey, and more), and that's where having a rookie contract for your franchise QB comes in handy. After the COVID-dust settles and the new television deal is in play, Bosa's contract will be not be anywhere near the top of the top-paid defensive players list. Bosa's salary for this year is the last year of the rookie deal, and I'm willing to bet that the extension is carefully-layered between the initial signing bonus that will be spread across the 2020-2023 seasons, fully guaranteed roster bonuses and salaries. McGuire is a master of cap management, and you can bet that they have a longstanding plan on how to sign other stars as well. They can't keep everybody, and I expect Ingram to not be here in 2021 for the same reasons that Popper laid out in an article a week ago: Ingram will be 32 in 2021, but still has enough left in the tank where somebody is going to offer him $$$ that the Chargers can't match. Barring an unforeseen injury <<knocking on my skull that is wood>>, Allen will be back in the fold in 2021 and I expect the same with Henry. If the Chiefs can do it with the highest paid player in NFL history on the roster, surely the Chargers can as well. I disagree with your disagree. He got part of that big contract because of the rookie QB contract. Not "Lets wait for the impact". The impact is already there. You say KC did it, why can't we. Then you say bye bye Ingram. ?? Huh ? Can he play up to that contract ? Reggie White should have been the highest paid defensive player in the NFL. Is Bosa Reggie White ? REACT AS I DIG OUT REALITY KEEPING IT REAL WITH EVERY POST !!!!!!!! FLAME THE LIVING HELL OUT OF ME !!!!!!!

REACT AS I DIG OUT REALITY KEEPING IT REAL WITH EVERY POST !!!!!!!! FLAME THE LIVING HELL OUT OF ME !!!!!!! The rookie deal at QB will allow the Chargers to keep more of their stars than they could if they were paying their franchise QB a 2nd/3rd contract. That's a fact, and it is something that the Rams, Seahawks, Cowboys, and a few other franchises benefited from over the past half-dozen years. Now that the Chargers have moved on from PR, it is the Chargers' opportunity to enjoy that big salary cap perk. Now all that needs to be done is for Herbert to live up to the billing. 😉 Bosa's production was massive in 2019, and his production on the field has been outstanding since he took the field. Bosa earned the deal, and he will prove to be worth it. His contract will be eclipsed multiple times over the next couple of seasons, and will be a good deal if he's still as productive when he reaches age 30 with similar or better on-field production. Largest contracts at vital positions is sequential: the best player in the NFL only has the largest contract for as long as they are up for a new deal. Pass rushing DE's, outstanding cover corners, franchise QB's, OT's and WR's leapfrog each other as years roll on and the cap increases. Salary increases do not stop when the best player at a position gets his deal and not resume until the best player signs their next contract. Bolt up!! 🍺

Jim Trotter reports that the Chargers are already inflated in extension talks with Slayer. He's gonna get paid. He's already shouting that he's the best WR in the AFC West (Tyreek Hill), in order to pump his negotiations. But he doesn't need to. He's the best WR WE have, and its not even close. And not close is where KA rings the register.

Good deal for Joey, I'm glad they got something done with no fuss. There is rarely much fuss when you pay the player top of the position dollars.

Who the hell is going to fuss at 135 million dollars ?? I think Tom Telesco deserves a big round of applause. You look at who he signed in free agency. Who he drafted. Now our guys he is trying to give extensions to. He gets an A from me. Like I have always said: They don't have to hit on every single thing. Just TRY. As long as they TRY, I'll take it.

Maybe his best so far.

Telesco identified Joey Bosa as THE core piece, and got the deal finalized. We are close to the goal. Holes are fewer and far between. The spotlight is now on Keenan...and Campen. Hell of a job Telesco ! #woodeyeunmasked
