Did we get a new D line coach ? They look completely different. Joseph is beastly tough. Tillery looks like he is becoming the first round draft pick that we made. I even saw Rochelle crash down the line on a QB sneak play !!! Boy they look good. Casey Hayward played good, good tackler, led the team by far with 12 tackles !!. IDK if anyone else noticed, but Perryman drilled Burrow in the thigh in the 4th quarter. He was limping after that shot. Welcome to the NFL. I saw that... Twas beautiful. My thoughts are: We didn't win, we just didn't lose. We won't beat the Chiefs with this offense. I get scared every time MW catches the ball... MW is our honey badger... He doesn't care... He throws his body out there to make the play. Much respect. I don't like that Slayer was contained. Tyrod's style just annoys me... I'm not expecting PR 2.0 but he needs to be more involved on the sideline. Our defensive line is fantastic, I hope they can keep it up Our offensive line is STILL bad... I hope Turner and Pouncey come back sooner than later. Tranquil's ankle looked bad... I seriously thought he broke his tibia/fibia, he's lucky it wasn't an Alex Smith injury. Overall I think every team in the NFL missed the preseason... They all looked extremely rusty. I'm glad football is back!

I have to think Kelly should be in there for short yardage plays. Getting stuffed twice using smaller choices (Elkler/Taylor) should be a wakeup call.

Perryman also caused the game-turning fumble when he put his helmet on the ball as he tackled Mixon. He still has an important place on this defense, and even more so after Tranqiil’s injury.

It was a timely play. I just wish he’d keep his head up and make more solid tackles than trying to plow through a guy with his head down looking for the knockout blow. He misses more often and gets hurt when he does that.

During this offseason I posted dozens of times that I wanted to keep Rivers, then that I didn't want to draft a QB and we'd be fine with Tyrod Taylor.
After Week One, I'd like to publicly admit I was wrong on both of those Navy&Yellow colored takes.
I watched the Colts game and truly felt Rivers cost them that game with those two interceptions. I kept thinking " has he been like that for years and my blind loyalty kept me too biased to see it?"
More importantly, I watched every minute of the Charger game (I have every week for a decade). I was particularly focused on Tyrod Taylor (he's the Quarterback so it's kinda hard not to, but I really wanted to see the difference a mobile QB gives us after years with PR). As much as I wanted to..., despite my bias..., even with my high-level-homerism... I just could not help but cringe at his play and performance yesterday. His throwing accuracy was awful. He often overthrew his receivers, who were open and could've had big plays if the ball was well thrown. And his running ability was just as bad- his actual running plays went NOWHERE. Neither the designed runs or the scrambles amounted to anything. How bad was that fourth down QB keeper? ? ?
I know there are some positive to Taylor's game- the lack of turnovers and some scrambling that kept plays alive, for instance- but I was sorely disappointed after one game against a lowly opponent. I know players and teams will get better as the season rolls on, especially with the lack of a real training camp/preseason. But I really expected a higher starting point for the Chargers and Tyrod Taylor to start from and improve upon. I'm not calling for Herbert just yet, but I feel like if you KNOW one guy isn't the "one" you may as well let the next guy play and determine if he could be the "one". And after one game, I'm finally seeing what many of you saw months ago.

post if you get news on Tranqil. No “news” per se, but from the horse’s mouth. He is certainly out for the year, but hoping he can make a full recovery.

Some good Kelley highlights in this thread. The whole left side of the OL did a great job of blocking too. Feeney got to the 2nd level LB. Lamp dominated the DT in front of him. Tevi passed his assignment to the TE and then went and got a 2nd guy cleared out. I've been looking for that for a long time. Tevi even looked pretty good in pass pro...
