A city that wants a team makes it happen. SD didn’t want it. 14 years of trying. Decades of non support Definitely especially with Tax proposals that involve no locals but tourist only. I get we want billionaires to pay for everything and they should. But. We were tired of the chargers band lackluster. We knew with a market like New York they can’t be lackluster. Hence the great talent acquisition. Hence herbert. Hence free charger tattoos. Hence All the Chargers fan activities. Hence greater effort all around. If the charger fans were filling Q when we were losing I can almost guarantee we will still be in San Diego but they aren’t. Half of a diehard fans like bull corpse and Blue won’t even follow their fellow friends on the forum. It’s no wonder the team had to leave Taxing “the other guys” usually means you don’t understand economics. |

Taxpayers should not be funding stadiums. The 2003-05 option had the Chargers funding the entire stadium project, building a city park, and spending $200 million in transportation infrastructure surrounding the stadium in exchange for land that was gifted to the City by the County in the 1960’s for the express purpose of building a stadium. The City wouldn’t even discuss it. They will never get a better deal that was on the table as the team was moving to an NFL-power level from anybody. I was pulling out my hair (figuratively) on the CMB during those years. Spanos hasn’t been good, but the current situation is laid at the City of SD’s feet. You’re on your own 8 and get the ball to start the 2nd half I'm as conservative as they come. But this is armchair quarterbacking. Taking a knee and then losing this game means the armchair quarterbacks come out of the woodworks with their hindsight, and lambasts coaching staff for "turtling" at the end of the half, when we had an opportunity to "step on their throats" And other cliches. |
