Refresh my memory, don’t we always have a huge UDFA pool ? It’s not a bad thing, we get em dirt cheap, and cut in bulk after summer lol I may be wrong, but I believe that all teams sign 20 before the process is finished (for camp bodies if nothing else). I heard someone on media mention us and two other teams as big pools, idk

I heard someone on media mention us and two other teams as big pools, idk I just looked at the CBA for the first time since the new CBA went into effect in 2020 (I used to know most of it pretty cold), and the drafted / undrafted rookie portions of it will make your head spin! It used to be pretty straight-forward regarding roster size during the league season, but now there's all kind of language about the rookie pool cap apportionments and little about maximum number of undrafted free agents that a team can sign. I have no idea what the maximum is, but so far the Chargers have been among the most active in signings. nflpaweb.blob.core.windows.net/website/PDFs/CBA/March-15-2020-NFL-NFLPA-Collective-Bargaining-Agreement-Final-Executed-Copy.pdf

Kicker Alex kessman might be the early favorite to earn a roster spot come final cuts, he broke records at pitt for longest FG with a 58 yarder!

That job is exactly the friggen same from pop warner on!

The problem is not keeping kickers long enough to get used to the NFL game... We should have kept Koo. Koo went to work AFTER he got cut following key game losing misses during the fall of 2017. He started training with John Carney after he got cut, and it wasn’t until two years later (2019) when he started playing for the Atlanta Legend in the Arena Football League. I’d hate to imagine how the tighter-than-tight 2018 season would have gone if a still-not-ready-for-prime time Koo was kicking through his learning curve for a team that squeaked into the playoffs in late December.

and now his kicking percentage for 2020 was 94.9%... "Money" Badger 72.7%
We've lost how many 1 score games again? This team gives up on kickers too fast... and no I'm not including Kaeding.

If they had a kicker who had potential but was having trouble, that *wasn’t* already working with a trainer, then that’s another Lynn et al coaching issue, in my view.

On last year's special teams I was happy he was kicking it towards the correct goal post !

I don’t remember seeing any Koo defenders on the CMB when he got axed. If they knew that Koo was a future 95% kicker, he wouldn’t have been cut. Same for Lambo which was a worse cut IMO because he had at least proven that he had NFL kicker abilities. I am hoping that the Pitt kicker shines this preseason and they stick with him long-term. No doubt that he and his agent saw a legitimate roster opportunity with the Chargers, so they jumped at it.

I'm not going to say I defended him then, but I'm saying now we need to stop playing musical kickers.
