HO ! They are not playing. moekid is not going to be happy about that one. I liked Johnson this summer. No I am not happy. Ty played well for us last season — better than Guyton in my book. I also do t like the Badgely cut and predict right now that he will land somewhere and out kick our guy just like Koo and Lambo before him. Vizio didn’t do enough in pre season to beat him out. Bags had issues over 40 but didn’t miss inside 40. Let me genius- like help with Bags. They freed up 1.1 million in cap space by cutting him. I would have kept Johnson over Loose Hands Guyton too.

Kj hill is a headscratcher, his kick returns were garbage and he put the team in bad field position due to bad decisions, plus he can’t run routes, but make he got vaccinated unlike moore and johnson

They are just good football players.

It wouldn't surprise me much if we signed an OT.

Takeaways from the Chargers' initial 53-man roster By Gavino Borquez The Los Angeles Chargers released their initial 53-man roster on Tuesday afternoon. Here are some takeaways from things that stood out on the first roster: Since the beginning of the summer, it was thought that the quarterback room would be Justin Herbert and Chase Daniel, but Easton Stick played his way into having the coaches keep all three during the preseason. Especially with there being a potential risk of losing out on one, given the uncertainty of COVID-19, the coaches played it safe. Daniel will likely be the other active quarterback on game days. Despite the durability concerns, the Chargers are keeping Justin Jackson. Jackson became unavailable after the first preseason game with a groin injury. Even though he has spent a good portion of his professional career on the sideline, the talent has always been there. The coaching staff is banking on him being healthy, as well as the development of second-year Joshua Kelley. Offensive coordinator Joe Lombardi incorporates a handful of three- and four-tight end sets, which is why the team decided to carry four. Plus, Stephen Anderson’s upside on special teams and versatility to play fullback is beneficial. Same goes for Gabe Nabers, who will play a similar role. Among the biggest surprises was the Chargers letting go of wide receiver Tyron Johnson, who was a candidate to fill the No. 3 role after a promising 2020 season. The decision to release him could’ve been internal or scheme, which would be telling from the lack of playing time and misusage in the first two preseason games. The move benefits rookie Josh Palmer, who had a strong summer. The team sees K.J. Hill as a viable return specialist, which is primarily the main reason why they decided to keep him over Joe Reed, Jason Moore and Johnson. Even though he struggled in the preseason, Trey Pipkins is still on the roster, which should not come as a surprise. This doesn’t mean that the team won’t pursue any free agents made available. Like I’ve said, the starting five is stout, but behind them is where they’re lacking depth. Breiden Fehoko was the frontrunner to back up Linval Joseph, but the team decided to go with undrafted rookie Forrest Merrill, who flashed dominance in the middle of the defensive line. The decision to cut Cortez Broughton, however, was a bit of a head-scratcher. Broughton looked like an entirely different player in the new scheme. The Chargers have four edge defenders rostered after releasing Emeke Egbule and Jessie Lemonier, both of whom I said that would be a tough cuts after strong showings this summer. Either one of them will likely end up on the practice squad. The Chargers have seven cornerbacks that make up the roster. Special teams standout Ryan Smith is still on the COVID-19/Reserve list which means that the team either has to make another cut or place him on the injured reserve. In the meantime, the additional spot was given to Kemon Hall, who flashed in coverage, run defense and on special teams. Tevaughn Campbell has been talked highly of and he has the ability to serve as one of the team’s gunners on punt coverage. The Chargers are rolling with Tristan Vizcaino as the starting kicker, at least for now. Despite Michael Badgley gaining momentum towards the end of training camp and preseason, the team favored the leg strength of Vizcaino. Special teams coordinator Derius Swinton II brought Vizcaino in, and now he will have his guy in hopes of bringing competency in that department, barring any additional changes. chargerswire.usatoday.com/2021/08/31/los-angeles-chargers-takeaways-cutdowns-53-man-roster/

The chiefs released Tim Ward a smallish defensive end in their system at 6’6” 255 but almost prototype for an edge player in the eagle defense that staley runs. He was undrafted in 2019 has been with KC ever since college and impressed the heck outta me in that season finale game at KC last year when he got a bunch of pressures and a sack on herbert to end the season. I watched him again in preseason and again he impressed me with pressures and sacks, he’s only 24 and with 3 years in the league he’s just coming into his own, he’s basically what we hope rumph will be in two years
KC also released their 3rd steing tackle prince something, he reminds me of Harry swayne in the body as he is muscular and cut up but still weighs 300 plus pounds, he lacks experience but from what I could tell already more aggressive and instinctive than pipkins
a lot of good players got cut today

Bags had issues over 40 but didn’t miss inside 40. Neither one performed well, the kick offs became the only difference, we still need a kicker… Kick offs are a red herring. If you can cover kicks, you are often better kicking inside the 5 and forcing a return than giving it to them on the 25

In the presser, Staley just said that they’re going hunting (cuts and trades) ‘for the 53 guys that will give them the best chance week 1’ (paraphrased).

Well, that can only mean one thing, and I’m sure music to everyones ears because most of the team has halfway decent depth, except for the offensive line
