The Jags’ other four “dripping with talent” receivers are second year Laviska Shenault Jr., tenth year Marvin Jones Jr, forth year DJ Clark Jr, and fifth year Jamal Agnew from USD, a murderers row if I have ever seen one. There are injuries, but those are the guys who are on the roster now. Why did Tyron only get 2 offensive snaps on Sunday when he proved to be a reliable deep threat in 2020? He lit it up with big plays in 2020, and his plays per game have dropped as he has spent more time with a terrible team that has a QB with an arm like Herbie’s coming off a season where he averaged 20 yards / reception. I don’t get it. It is easy......he is not that good. He played above his talent level, but has since come to ground. Unless two coaching staffs have gotten it totally wrong, that is also my conclusion. But who knows, maybe he’ll get another opportunity?

I only watched it live. Am I incorrect that Allen (or whoever it was that moved) intentionally shifted instead of moved his feet ala MDub on the called back TD against the Cowboys? And due to that intentional double shift, Guyton was supposed to stop the motion where he was going one direction, and then reversed direction that looked to also be intentional? If so, I’ll need to rewatch it. I could have sworn I saw a seemingly unintentional movement of feet, but I could be wrong. I would respectfully say you need to watch it again, but go back to the previous play when guyton drops the TD pass that hit him in both hands. Then watch in real time what he does after the play. His adjustment to the ball in the air was not good, it should’ve been a gimme. It’s kind of upsetting to see him brace for impact to the point where he gives up position and allows the ball to fall out of both of his hands instead of attacking the ball in the air which may have even resulted in a PI. He then had to get back some 60 yards to past mid field to where the huddle would be and he is shown like oblivious or stunned, walking nonchalantly down the sideline, putting his mouth piece on side of his helmet watching replay on jumbotron, dwelling on the dropped pass which further compounds the problematic sequence for him going into the illegal shift play. When the camera cuts back to the chargers, they’ve already broken huddle guyton was already on the left side but instead of getting set, he starts running towards the right side and runs into allen as allen was going in motion to the left. We then see allen raising his arms and yelling at him to come back to the left but guyton comes back slowly and is completely unaware of the clock. I think that is why we see allen visibly upset after his 30 yard conversion is called back. from allen’s POV, he’s probably thinking, first he drops the fqing TD pass, then he doesn’t get back in time to get the play, then when I tell him where to line up he has no idea that time is running out and that he needs to reset before the snap!!! I get that herbert has a lot on his plate, he’s reading the defense at that time and missed the fact that guyton was in la la land not knowing what the hell to do, but coach, coach should’ve called the time out, like when allen raises his arms in frustration pre snap. Or I would’ve liked to have seen keenan himself make an executive decision, he’s a vested veteran! what’s staley going to do bench allen for using a meaningless time out? SOMEONE should’ve called a time out to give guyton a chance to pull his head out of his ass! I’m not a guyton hater, I liked both guyton and tyron johnson and don’t need to pick one over the other (false choice) both have a future in the NFL. But guyton had a very rough sequence there that cost the team a touchdown and then cost the team a 30 yard gain to extend the drive and potentially add more points before the half ended. At the very least the team runs the clock out and keeps KC from scoring before the end of the first half. The Chargers should’ve gone into the half up 21-0 or 17-0 or 21-3 or 14-0 or maybe even 21-7 but instead we got almost worse case scenario of 14-3 because worse case could’ve been 14-7. so you go from a situation where the team should’ve extended their lead before halftime and instead the chiefs get to cut into the lead and guyton was partly responsible for that ultimately it’s herbert’s job to make sure everyone is set and make sure everyone is line up properly, herbert had to redirect both allen and guyton on that play. If he was more experienced he’d have called a timeout instead of trying to beat the clock and guyton should’ve hurried up if he had a clue about the time, it’s a young group and they clearly lack experience. EDIT: At the very top of the screen you see staley trying to call TO right as the ball is being snapped, I don’t know if the ref ignored him or if the ref thought he was too late. Either way herbert should’ve called it long before that with 4-5 seconds before the play clock expired because both guyton and allen were confused pre snap but allen managed to reset and guyton had no idea what was happening time wise. Very frustrating sequence and plenty of blame to go around but totally doesn’t happen if guyton just catches the ball.

Moved up into the first round with a second round pick and a third round pick to get him........ don't yell at me, I'm just throwing that out there........... It cost us a third-rounder to move up, we just spent the second round pick faster. Not sure I would have made the same call. Those picks could gave gone to, say, DL, OL, or RB. I think that more picks generally gives you a better chance to acquire quality talent—provided, however, your scouting was sufficient and accurate. There are pretty juicy RB and Guards in the third round. Joshua Kelley was a fourth rounder. Has anyone seen him ?

Big picture Emp. Details bore me to death. I did see Guyton moving around like a chicken out there and Allen having a stroke about it. My son was mad that Allen may have tipped off the refs with his pre-snap anger.

The Jax system certainly is not helping, but remember, he was in the Chargers system and let go.

Outside of herbert (and maybe still murray), the 2020 draft is looking kind of bad for the chargers right now. That second round that Telesco traded out of was loaded with talent. He could’ve thrown a dart blindfolded and hit on a really good player. Here are some of the intriguing names that went off the board after the chargers were supposed to pick (the pick they traded to NE to get murray).Ross Blacklock NT (think we could use him now?) jonathon taylor RB Laviska Shenault WR Cole Kmet TE Antoine winfield (would’ve been a glorious pick!) the asante samuel of 2020 draft KJ Hammler WR Chase Claypool WR Tevon Diggs CB Cam Akers RB JK Dobbins RB Van Jefferson WR the son of former charger wider receiver could’ve been a solid legacy pick Ezra Cleveland RT prototypical right tackle starting at guard for Vikings in 2020 but might be one of their best offensive linemen. Jeremy Chinn S/LB think staley could use this guy? the third round pick that got traded offered less juicy options but there was still talent to be had there, here are the notable guys that could’ve been had after that pick which was trade to NEJosh Jones RT currently starting at RG but having a solid year and will be their starting RT in the next year or so, solid player! Bryan Edwards WR, I’m afraid we’ll find out on monday night how good this kid is. Lucas Niang RT, got beat a few times last week, but it’s joey effin bosa! the kid has exceeded expectations this year and is basically a rookie, solid player

I think brandon staley is making tom telesco a better GM, that’s why I told you guys we haven’t seen the best of telesco, staley has given telesco a focus that he didn’t have before and we are already seeing the results in the 2021 draft. This focus is also showing results in the free agency signings, I don’t think it’s a coincidence that staley came on board and the team starts signing super value guys like fackrell and abushi, and probably one of the big steals in FA in fieler.

Resurrects an older AJ/Marty argument. AJ did much better on his picks with Marty as HC.

It’s stands to reason that a good coach will make a good GM look better and a good GM will make a good coach look better as well. I’ve criticized telesco in the past and I’ll criticize staley in the future, but that doesn’t mean I don’t like these guys. I hope this guys are both still around in five years. The fanbase could do with some nice stability at both spots for years to come

I'm struggling where we hired Staley, 89 days later we had the draft, but Staley was so greatly versed in college talent that he then overrode Tom Telesco and our Pro NFL Scouting Department. Not seeing it.

Well, you do walk around with a bag over your head and then you cover your eyes with your hand on top of it, how in the hell do you expect to see anything!? 89 days is an eternity for a football nut like staley and he hired a bunch of college coaches that in some cases recruited or played against some of the guys we drafted. If you honestly don’t think this draft was more tidy, organized, and plan oriented then you are not paying attention. Look back on drafts from years past and you’ll see a lot more of BPA type stuff that ignores team needs. This year they where taking the best player available at said needs that fits the team but they were very specific in there targets, no project types, these guys all were able to contribute early at least on STs. EMP!!! It’s undeniable, this draft was very very different so take your head outta your bag and uncover your eyes.

Staley filled his staff with college coaches......far too lazy/busy to look, but that statement doesn't feel accurate. As the talent on the roster has improved year to year, and it has, the draft focus has narrowed. That said, I think TT just had a really good draft.....it happens.

I’m not sure how you missed the story but it was well documented by more than one person covering the team, people were surprised staley hired so many college guys without NFL coaching experience. Derrick ashley (secondary coach) tennesse our josh palmer connection chris beatty (wide receiver coach) came from pitt I think he was consulted on one of our lower picks (larry roundtree?) he’s also our connection to the kid we signed off the kansas city chiefs Ffrench the kick return specialist. Mayur chaudhari (special teams assistant) UC davis derrick foster (running backs coach) university of iowa our nick nieman connection isaac shewmaker (defensive assistant) tennesse chandler whitmer (offensive assistant) clemson these are six that I know of on a staff of 14-15 guys? I don’t know what the league average is but hiring 35% outta college must be high if people were surrpised by it.
