Nice read and react, and the react was pretty damn fast too. Merrill brushed off the C, threw RG 72 ( I think 6-7 345 Jones-Smith) to the ground and was behind the surviving Duhs OL when he dove on the RB. Tranquill & White got there, might have made the play but Merrill didn't need any help.
Merrill may be for real.
You’re right, on another thread I erroneously posted that he beat leatherwood. A couple of things that I haven’t understood about the merrill thing. People don’t like the way he looks or the way he’s built? I don’t get it, people think because he’s short that he’s some kind of “rudy” wanna be and they’re wrong, I’ll admit I had never heard of him before the chargers signed him, BUT, the fact that this staff brought him in was like hmmm… then I did some research and the college tape he put up against SEC offensive linemen was really impressive. This kid is a one of those freaks of nature you can’t dismiss simply because of the way he’s put together physically. For starters the guy is abnormally strong and super quick, you don’t have to be a fqing coach to see it. Secondly, he understands leverage and uses his lower center of gravity like pro. And my favorite part about merrill once he gets his hands on a fugger, that fugger goes down! So leverage, quickness, above average strength, and a fantastic tackler. What are the doubters not seeing that I see?

I don't think you can dismiss what Tillery has been doing lately. I have to admit, I was not a fan of his past performances but it seems as though Staley has lit a fire that needed igniting!

I think with tillery I’m still wait and see, and the reason is I’ve seen him flash before and thought ‘here we go’ and then he disappeared again. He’ll need to be the tillery from the last two games consistently before people forget the tillery from the first two games. If he has indeed begun to turn the corner everyone will forgive and forget the first 2 plus years I’ve seen guys take awhile to develop before, how many of us thought jamal williams was a bust? I know I did, and everyone knows how that turned out, he became one of the most dominant defensive linemen in the entire league and a charger legend. I used to love watching john madden gush over jamal on monday night football
