Hopefully we’ll get back at least Norton and Adderley for Sunday. 🤞 Adderly is the best player we got in that bunch. We could use Hopkins back as well. I don’t want to see Vizcaino again this season. 🤢 |

Some injury and COVID-19 news before we get to your questions. The Chargers have only one player on the injury report heading into this game: LB Drue Tranquill, who is listed as doubtful due to an ankle injury he suffered in last week’s loss to the Texans. Derwin James, who has been battling a hamstring injury since Week 14, came off the injury report Friday and is expected to start against Denver, head coach Brandon Staley said. James will not be on a snap count, according to Staley. The Chargers have 10 active-roster players on the reserve/COVID-19 list as they head into the weekend: DB Chris Harris Jr., TE Jared Cook, S Nasir Adderley, LB Kenneth Murray, OT Storm Norton, S Alohi Gilman, OT Trey Pipkins, LS Matt Overton, K Dustin Hopkins and CB Davontae Harris. Cook was added to the list Friday and is “unlikely” to play, according to Staley. The other nine players still have a chance under the updated NFL protocols. The Chargers will make their roster move by 1 p.m. PT Saturday, so we will know then who is available. Any player who is not activated off the reserve/COVID-19 list by that deadline is not eligible to play Sunday. Here is the list of Chargers players who came off the COVID-19 list this week: RB Austin Ekeler, C Corey Linsley, edge rusher Joey Bosa, WR Mike Williams, DL Justin Jones, CB Michael Davis, edge rusher Chris Rumph, CB Tevaughn Campbell, WR Jalen Guyton, S Trey Marshall, DB Kemon Hall, DL Joe Gaziano, KR/PR Andre Roberts, QB Chase Daniel and OL Senio Kelemete. LB Cole Christiansen, K Tristan Vizcaino and edge rusher Emeke Egbule were activated off the COVID-19 list and reinstated to the practice squad. DL Andrew Brown is the only practice squad player on the COVID-19 list. If Pipkins and Norton remain on the COVID-19 list for Sunday, then either Brenden Jaimes or Matt Feiler will start at right tackle, Staley said. If Feiler moves from left guard to right tackle, Jaimes would start at left guard, Staley said. Feiler would remain at left guard if Jaimes starts at right tackle. With Tranquill out, Murray would start and play full time at inside linebacker if he is activated off the COVID-19 list, according to Staley. If Murray is unavailable, rookies Nick Niemann and Amen Ogbongbemiga would split time at inside linebacker alongside Kyzir White. If Hopkins is not activated off the COVID-19 list, Vizcaino would handle kicking duties. The Chargers signed long snapper Beau Brinkley to their practice squad this week as insurance in case Overton is not available. The Broncos, meanwhile, are also dealing with a COVID-19 outbreak. They had 12 active roster players on the reserve/COVID-19 list as of Friday afternoon: WR Tim Patrick, OT Calvin Anderson, WR Jerry Jeudy, OLB Bradley Chubb, CB Bryce Callahan, S Caden Sterns, OT Bobby Massie, OLB Stephen Weatherly, DL McTelvin Agim, OLB Jonathon Cooper, CB Mike Ford and ILB Baron Browning. There is also a possibility WR Courtland Sutton lands on the COVID-19 list before the game, head coach Vic Fangio told reporters in Denver on Friday. Sutton is listed as questionable. Denver starting quarterback Teddy Bridgewater (concussion) has been ruled out. Drew Lock will start in his place. On the bright side, the squad is pretty darned healthy coming into Week 17. Linval Joseph said that this team is reminding him of the 2011 Giants squad: team started hot, lost a string of games with a lot of injuries, and got healthy at the end of the season.

Denver should just run the ball exclusively. Rex Burkhead had a career day against our defense and Javinte and Mel are both many times better runner than Burkhead. This is going to be a long and disappointing day for the chargers if they can’t stop the run.
