KC is 4-0 when trailing at the half. 30th in defense last year, 29th in defense this year. This loss was predictable.

We had a 4th and inches on our own 34 at the end of the third quarter. We were up by three but the momentum had shifted. I thought Staley was going to go for it, we punted. Chiefs drive the field and score for their first lead since the first drive. I am sure the analytics said punt. I guess he can loose being conservative too.
the Chiefs final scoring drive was miserable defense. You knew it was going to happen. I say take some risks and blitz the shit out of them.

I think the analytics probably said go for it in that situation and I was surprised he didn’t. Agree that they needed to blitz. I mean you gotta sell out at that point. You have no Bosa, no IDL except scrubs from the street and PS, where is tranquil on that play? Where is Nas?

Just getting back from the game. First half was fun and entertaining but it’s simple: Reid/Spags >>>>> Staley/Lombo. Mahomes >>>> Herbert Kelce>>>> Derwin Pacheco (7th round)>>>>>Spiller (4th round). Hurt not to get a td before the half but we were up 20-13 and getting the ball to start the 3rd. Failed to take advantage. In fact failed to get a first down on 2 consecutive series. Failed to score until 1:46 remained. Inexcusable. Out coached Mahomes just has that magic and I’m afraid Herbert doesn’t . Herbert can’t improvise the way Mahomes can and it makes all the difference. I do think Herbert has regressed. He’s like a robot QB and Mahomes plays like a kid. I’m sure Kelce has been waiting since that body slam to beat Derwin’s ass and he did it tonight. I knew it was goi g to Kelce. I’m sure everyone did. But they didn’t double him to take him away they left Derwin on him “best on best” as Staley said and Derwin got worked. Not good enough. And that’s all she wrote. Chargers just aren’t good enough. Sean Payton is out there and wants to come back and apparently the chargers are one of the teams he’d come back to. That would make so much sense. A good owner wouldn’t hesitate Zero pressure on Mahomes. Any QB can light up an injury riddled defense when they have all day to wait for receivers to come open. The defensive “genius” HC is a failure. And we’re not good enough.

He should have gone for that, and also the 4th and goal at the end of the first half. You don't beat KC with punts and field goals. Especially when you can't stop a 3rd and 17.

So a really beat up Charger club made it a very close game, one that might easily have had a different winner.
Not too sure KC is all that, regardless of what the pundits are trying tell us.

The Chargers always play close games in the AFCW. Whether its the fast chopping Chefs or the inept Raiduhs, it is rarely a blowout.

KC is a better club than Chargers and are a playoff team by virtue of AFCW champs, that is clear. Where they stand versus the rest of NFL ? TBD. There are some damn good teams. KC has legit stars in Mahomes, Kelce, Chris Jones and a quality HC but that doesn't make them unique.

Give the Chargers a healthy roster, as opposed to a decimated roster, and the Chargers are every bit as good as the Chiefs. To win a championship you need three things.....Talent, Health, and Luck. Chargers have but one of those most seasons.

Justin couldn’t even breath in that first game. That was one few times where I didn’t care about the outcome of the game, I only cared about the long term health and safety of a player. Swap Mahomes for Herbert in that situation and we would have won that game and probably at least two more where Herbert was a shell of himself. In fact, if it was Mahomes and not Herbert with that injury, our standings in the AFC West would be us on top and them chasing. That’s just one of a shit-ton of injuries.

Herbert was injured in the 4th quarter but I'm mostly referring to the defense. We had less injuries then and still lost, but I agree the talent is there.
