As a sophomore, Gates made the Pro Bowl and was selected as a first-team All-Pro member. From 2004-2011, he made the Pro Bowl every year. He made first-team All-Pro three times (2004-2006) and second-team All-Pro twice (2009-2010). Over that span, Gates caught at least seven touchdowns in every season.

I am still in shock over this snub. He Changed the position and what was possible from a TE. I cant for the life of me understand how he is not first ballot. The HoF really missed the mark here.

You said exactly what I am thinking right now. A big snub!

I it was only based off of play, he clearly is a first ballot selection. I suspect the NFL is as political as NHL on HOF selections, making for examples of poor selection process.

No Superbowl no first ballot I assume. You guys are taking this really hard, its not like first ballot means anything. AG is not an analyst and he is not on TV or does anything with the media. I can see why this happened, BUT he better get in next year. I kinda think it would be cool for him and PR to get in at the same time also...

It is recognition by all that his contributions are unquestionable.

I guess we'll see how it goes... LT was first ballot but not AG and maybe not PR? Is it a Superbowl snub, or a positional snub or a combination?

Edit: Julius Peppers also got popped fro PEDS and served a 4 game suspension. Gates must have had his way with a few writers wives or something.
