You mean the guy whose wife’s net worth is over $250+ million? How much does Tiffany pull in while caring for the nine children? BTW Brady’s cap price for 2019 is almost $4 million more than PR’s. The GOAT only makes 4 mil more than the guy who has never won a Championship and last signed a contract 4 years ago Um........ok. The GOAT is the chump change earner in his household. Unique situation. PR is like most other QB’s and players in the league. No shame in that. What he doesn’t do like some is hold his team hostage by threatening to retire or hold out while under contract in order to extract every nickel he can from ownership unless they buckle to his demands.

He wants to know how you summed up his whole career that fast !!!!
I have no problem with Rivers getting whatever the market will bear. One big reason is that with the escalating salaries of QB's, he has been under paid for years. Its time he got in the mix.
He is in the sweet spot now.....We sucked for years so taking a pay cut wouldn't have helped the team get over the hump. Now we are loaded, so he can claim the other way. Pay cut for what ? Our 17th running back ?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

I agree with the price range, but if they're looking to sign a free agent this year to bump their chances at a ring in 2019, why not do an extension / restructure that would give him the same guaranteed overall money for the two seasons but simultaneously reduces the cap hit for 2019 while avoiding the whole franchise tag drama? No reason to go down that road unless you're forced to do so. I believe that is doable because I have a feeling that PR isn't looking for "market money" given the recent franchise QB deals that have been parceled out, but the idea that he should be willing to take a paycut following a standout season is not a realistic option for anybody in my book, including the altruistic Brady who takes less every year just because he's a great dude who sacrifices everything for the team. <<Where is the  avi when you really need it???>>

After they get financially set, it isn't always about the money.

After they get financially set, it isn't always about the money. Gates is a shadow of the player he was at his peak. Would he play for the vet’s minimum at this stage? Maybe so, but based on his production in 2018, that would be warranted. PR is coming off of one of his best seasons and will be supporting a household of 11, and will be supporting that in addition to the charitable foundations for many years after the NFL paychecks stop coming in. Will he accept a below-market deal to give the team a better shot at the Lombardi? Yes, I have no doubt he will, but the idea that he should / will take a voluntary pay cut after his 2019 season would be unprecedented (including St. Thomas of San Mateo), and it shouldn’t be viewed as he doesn’t want to win bad enough to take a voluntary pay-cut unless one is Carnac the Magnificent and can guarantee a Super Bowl win if he takes the pay-cut. A marginally better chance isn’t enough of a reason to do so for a professional athlete with a limited career span.

I have never had an issue with that. My point is that some players, after earning financial security, become far more interested in winning than money. Pure speculation on my part, but my guess is Brady is not in it for the money anymore, it is all about legacy now. I used Gates merely as an example. I have no idea if he has managed his earnings well, or not. I do know he is at the end, and lacks that Championship......which I am certain he wants. I am certain he will join a very elite group of players that never managed to win the Championship.

I don’t see his stance being duplicated anytime soon. I agree with you that different players have different motivations in that some are looking to scratch every nickel that they can extract during their careers while others have other motivating factors besides the $$$ that drives them. I put PR in that second group and expect an extension and restructure to be quietly announced at some point this summer.

When combined with his wife's wealth, they'd have the $$$ to buy a substantial share from Kraft if they were so inclined.

Was going through pictures from training camp and loved seeing Rivers rocking the visor. Thought I'd try to distract from the MGIII thread with a little photoshop fun. Sadly I can't figure out how to make the image larger on this message board. Go Bolts!!!

Have you heard him being worried that defenses are reading his eyes ? He makes split second decisions and throws. Has he caught coverage's trailing his eyes ?
