People are amazed that I am the only one not as big on Artavis Scott as everyone else is. That amazement is getting to be less and less I see. Are we carrying 3 QB's ? Lynn is getting rid of Card. Jones ? I know Wiz secretly does not want him. Lamp can't make the roster because the Goalie said he would never play in the NFL.

Wow, I don't subscribe to the Atlantic and just made my predictions from the Chargers web site but the only differences between my predictions and Daniel Popper's are:
I think we'll only keep two QBs and stash Stick on the practice squad (because we've always carried only two QBs) I have us keeping Detrez Newsome (and even believe he's ahead of Pope) Popper has Scott making the team while one of my boldest predictions is Patton makes the sixth WR instead of Scott (glad to see Freak also isn't as enamored with Scott) And I have Okung on the final 53 while Popper lists Drango and puts Okung on PUP
That last one is just a technicality, so I only count THREE differences between my amateur final roster prediction and Daniel Popper's! (patting myself on the back)

The QB question is big. I can see Lynn keeping Cardele and hoping stick makes it to the PS.

The QB question is big. I can see Lynn keeping Cardele and hoping stick makes it to the PS. I pray that the Cardale Jones experiment comes to an end, as using a roster spot on someone that clearly will never be good enough is a huge waste. If they put Stick on the practice squad, it would not be a shock if some team poached him.

Cortez Broughton as a cut was the only real surprise. Coin flip between Pope and Newsome. Both are functional but nothing special.

Pretty certain all clubs have their rosters submitted to the league, then the clubs submit the practice squad players, then the poaching can begin..... Stick makes the main roster, and he is protected.......he gets put on the PS, he is eligible to be poached to another clubs main roster. (they might only have to carry him on the main roster for a few weeks, but I am not sure about that)

Stick makes the main roster, and he is protected.......he gets put on the PS, he is eligible to be poached to another clubs main roster. (they might only have to carry him on the main roster for a few weeks, but I am not sure about that) That's not quite it. Players have to clear 24-hour waivers before they can be signed to the practice squad, so they are open game for anybody to sign after the 53-man roster is submitted. For example, that happened when the Chargers tried to move QB Scott Tolzein to their practice squad several years back, and the 49ers (whom the Chargers had just played in PS Game 4) claimed Tolzein on waivers. If multiple claims are placed on a player, the player goes to the team with a worse record in 2018 (that order has already been established). If a player clears the 24-hour waiver wire, they are free to sign with a practice squad for any team. Of course, 99% of the time they sign with the team they spent training camp with; however, it's not required: Wes Welker famously signed with the Dolphins practice squad after the Chargers attempted to move him to their practice squad because he was so pissed off to be released to make temporary room for Tim Dwight and a safety (Clinton Hart) who was signed due to injuries on the roster. I believe that Stick has shown enough so far for somebody to snag him off the waiver wire, so the Chargers will be taking a major risk of losing him just as they lost Scott Tolzein, a guy who remained in the league for seven seasons (49ers, Packers and Colts).

ESPN’s Eric Williams offers his roster projection: COSTA MESA, Calif. -- The Los Angeles Chargers will cut their roster to 53 players by 4 p.m. ET Saturday. Here's a projection for the initial roster: QUARTERBACK (3): Philip Rivers, Tyrod Taylor, Cardale Jones Jones outplayed fifth-round selection Easton Stick during preseason play. The Chargers could keep four quarterbacks if they do not want to risk losing Stick on waivers, but the North Dakota State product could pass through and be placed on the practice squad. RUNNING BACK (4): Melvin Gordon, Austin Ekeler, Justin Jackson, Troymaine Pope Expect Gordon to end his holdout in time to be on the Week 1 roster. Pope beats out Detrez Newsome here for the final running back spot. FULLBACK: (1): Derek Watt Watt appears fully recovered from offseason shoulder surgery. His backup, Jeremy Cox, has a chance to make it on the practice squad. WIDE RECEIVER (6): Keenan Allen, Mike Williams, Travis Benjamin, Geremy Davis, Artavis Scott, Dontrelle Inman Andre Patton has done enough during training camp and preseason play to make the team, but could be the odd man out with the recent addition of the veteran Inman. TIGHT END (3): Hunter Henry, Virgil Green, Sean Culkin Culkin has shown growth as a pass-catcher and run blocker in his third NFL season. The expectation is the Chargers will run more two-tight end sets this year partially due to Culkin's growth at the position. OFFENSIVE LINE (8): Dan Feeney, Mike Pouncey, Michael Schofield III, Sam Tevi, Forrest Lamp, Scott Quessenberry, Trent Scott, Trey Pipkins Russell Okung likely begins the year on the non-football injury list due to the pulmonary embolism he suffered earlier this offseason, and does not count toward the 53-man roster. The Chargers also could look to add a veteran tackle during final roster cuts due to lack of depth at the position. DEFENSIVE LINE (9): Joey Bosa, Melvin Ingram, Brandon Mebane, Justin Jones, Jerry Tillery, Damion Square, Isaac Rochell, T.Y. McGill, Anthony Lanier II Undrafted rookie Chris Peace had a good camp and will likely be a practice squad addition if he clears waivers. Patrick Afriyie is a good special teams player and could make the final roster. Defensive line is one of the deepest groups on the Chargers' roster. LINEBACKER (7): Denzel Perryman, Thomas Davis, Uchenna Nwosu, Kyzir White, Drue Tranquill, Jatavis Brown, Emeke Egbule This group was one of the most competitive positions in camp. Nick Dzubnar and Kyle Wilson could make sense here because of their ability to play special teams. The Chargers want to make sure they have depth at this position because they ran out of healthy bodies last year. SECONDARY (9): Derwin James, Casey Hayward, Michael Davis, Desmond King, Adrian Phillips, Nasir Adderley, Rayshawn Jenkins, Jaylen Watkins, Brandon Facyson James has to be on the active roster for 24 hours for the Chargers to place him on the injured reserve to start the season, so undrafted rookie Roderic Teamer Jr. could replace the Florida State product on the active roster if he clears waivers. At corner, Trevor Williams dealt with knee issues last season and has been limited during training camp, so he's the odd man out here. The Chargers have some versatility because Watkins can also play cornerback. SPECIALIST(3): Mike Badgley, Ty Long, Cole Mazza For a third straight season the Chargers mix things up with the specialists group, letting go of nine-year veteran long snapper Mike Windt in place of Mazza. The Chargers also added CFL standout Long, who specializes in directional kicks and can serve as the Bolts' kickoff specialist. www.espn.com/blog/los-angeles-chargers/post/_/id/26560/chargers-53-man-roster-projection-includes-melvin-gordon-ending-holdout
