The one D player I'm thinking is going to really tear it up is Justin Jones. Hear he is having a good camp. But just in the two PO games he started last year, you could see flashes of dominance. Going into his second year, I really expect him to into a starting role, in the least see 50% of the snaps. If he can bring pressure, Bosa and Ingram are going feast. Jones & Tillery can rev up all the D. Control the middle, shrink or crush the pocket and life's going to be tough for out opponents when we play.
Our rush ends and DBs are elite players in their own regard, the LBs look very promising. With a tight rein on the middle? It should be awesome! Being a part of that will snowball and make them all great.
I may be the only one but I don't think our DB's are "elite". They couldn't cover Edleman, White, or Bronk if they put ten of them out there. To some this will draw a quick reprimand but I think Casey came back to the pack last year. James is the only DB we have that I think is elite. But, if the pass rush picks up in the middle, it would go a long way to make our DB's look good. The guy I think will cause a big improvement in our D is Bosa. He should take a big step forward this year.

The free safety needs to be shaken out with the competition between Watkins, Jenkins and Adderley. Overall, I feel very good about our secondary.

This article makes me wonder if it's wise to pay Gordon 10M? The three holdover backs still on the team are pretty darn good. They could draft a rookie RB in next years draft and have him at the rookie salary. When you consider it, it seems that it may be wise to replace your #1 RB every 3/4 years. Most RB's only last about five years in the NFL and the $$ could be spent better on the other positions. Draft well, and you never pay them big dollars, you just replace them.

Trevor Williams, Mike Davis, Adrian Phillips, Rayshawn Jenkins, Nasir Adderly maybe. They have a shot at being the most successful DB group in the NFL whether one chooses to call them elite or not. Defending v Pats on 1/13/19 was a one-off scenario, the odds of having to play that LAC personnel group in that scheme are non-existant.

Every one on this forum has reason to be excited about our defense, I know I am. That is one talented group of defenders we have. You said the LB's look promising, I would go a step further, they are a superior athletic group. Good mix of vets with Thomas Davis, Perryman. Younger White and Brown.... The only thing stopping them is health. Rotate the group. Keep them healthy and fresh for the long season. Magic can happen with our defense. SO excited !

I think you are both correct. Roo is right about eyeballing a drop off from elite for a player or two, and Hayward is a great example. The fortunate part is that what was once some average players, have grown into being good (Jenkins and Phillips come to mind). Gus Bradley deserves a lot of credit for improving the average players. The Legion of Boom coach indeed.

No injuries please...... do not expect to see any starters playing PS. These games to lynn are about the developing players. The vets you save for the PO's. There is no way the bolts keep 4 QB's.

No, we just need them to throw at all of the chickens running around camp. Cut bait.

There will be 'starters' that play some, might only be a series, but still your point is valid as it would be quite limited. Starter or not, I want to see focus from these guys. No unforced errors......

1. Los Angeles Chargers: Los Angeles sports one of the league's best one-two punches at the position in the form of stud shadow/perimeter corner Casey Hayward and third-year slot Desmond King. Trevor Williams and Michael Davis have flashed at times and will compete for the other perimeter job. Versatile CB/S Jaylen Watkins is back from a torn ACL.

Depth behind Adderley and Jenkins.
His only "versatility" has been knowing how to pack his luggage after teams throw him out the door. Journeyman league floater, torn ACL, until he can prove otherwise TO ME !

I'll give the improvement to the coaching over the front office guy.
