I liked a lot of what I saw early on in the game, especially the sack from Tillery. I am, however, finishing up my letter to CBS asking them to avoid putting Dan Fouts on any more of our games this year. I'm not sure why, but every time I watch a game that he calls, he always seems to go on and on about the other team's players and loves to point out penalties that he believes the referees should be calling on the Chargers. It's like the CBS executives told him not to be biased for the Chargers, and he took it to the extreme. It could just be me though...

Ekler Jackson duo not getting it done. You have to have patience. Wait for first string defenses of the NFC North to come rolling around. You know, like the Bears. Pfffft, we'll be fine. Just fine. Texans in the South ? Why, Ekeler will bulldoze through like butter. Can we cut Gordon's offer back, to say 5 mill ?

Tillery’s sack. Me likey (except that his body unfortunately rolled into the Saints olineman’s knee who had to be carted off): Our first round pick was crafty smart selection by TT, helped by our scouting team. I think his shoulder had him drop in the first round, but his talent is upper first round.

That would make a difference. My hope would be a much bigger one. However, neither were they running against #1. Who cares about the NFCN. it will be tough enough in the AFCW.

Ekler Jackson duo not getting it done. 3.3 yards average for the RB group.......clearly none are getting it done. How much of that is on the OL, and how much on the RB's ?

RBs, OL, coaches, all share responsibility. We ran vanilla situational practices vs NO for two days then brought out our all youngster OL and RBs & ran more of same. NO was not fooled on a majority of carries. JJ & Pope certainly had their moments though. Good drill. Guys who needed reps got them & have a lot of tape.

That is the point of PS/TC. My statements are not definitive, more observation. No way I'd say we are going to be in huge trouble. Just not enough evidence to say. I'll let the regular season tell me. I'm not so sure vanilla is always true. What good is tape if both teams know what is coming and have done it 15 times over the past week?

Yep, it is a preseason game, for both clubs. Plenty of things going on that are not necessarily in the best interest of 'winning' the game. That acknowledged, 3.3 yards needs to get some warning lights flashing, one would hope at least. Losing the 'majority' of those vanilla plays has to be a concern.

The hand and shoulder work are EXACTLY what Tillery was working on with Square before the start of Wednesday’s practice. Outstanding!! 🍺

I was just reading where Gus Bradley and Justin Jones are gushing about Tillery.
He is saying the right things too. "I want to get better every day. I am better today than I was yesterday. Its a process to be the best me I can."
Good rookie stuff there !!!!!

I know that it’s a very very high bar, but Nick Hardwick has stated that Tillery reminds him physically and on film of the most difficult (by a large margin) DT/DE that he ever had to face during his decade in the NFL:
Richard Seymour (6’6” 310 pounds)
Tillery is 6’6” 295 pounds
