Former Chargers guard / center chimes in with an eye opening thread about the events that led to his retirement that culminated with a “steak and bourbon” moment in a Detroit bar. "It's surreal to look back and review this... it's hideously comical how much of myself I was willing to give..."
C'mon man. You chasing that big money. Let's get real folks.
He had already made decent contract money over his 6-year career, and was chasing vet’s minimum at best with a surgically repaired back and finally the “What the hell am I doing?” struck him like a bolt of lightning (no pun intended). He now works on radio and writes for his career, which I’m sure is easier on his body as he raises the now 4-year-old child. |

When he and Luck and all the others are injured/in pain, and it gets to be too much, they retire. I have no problem with that at all. I respect their decision. But saying you are amazed at how much of a giver you were, while making millions or hundreds of thousands a year. They can save that part.

No one else any good is sitting out there. The two things that would tick me off as a fan is the potential for this year, and the timing of his quitting. A week before the opener ?? I've heard some weird things from interviewed beat writers in Indy. Luck has lied, Irsay has lied, the org is not reliable in reporting things. One area they touched on is How DID he hurt his shoulder and be out for 2017 ? The word around town is he actually did it snowboarding.
