Holding vets & older players to very limited contact prior to reg season was allegedly intended to promote better team health in late season- post season. Not sure of a direct correlation BUT, it looks like the result was poor schematic execution and more serious injuries earlier in reg season. What do you think?

For even a decent analysis we’d probably have to look at a much larger data set (multiple teams, possibly multiple seasons) and control for many different factors, e.g., S&T methods/time, play by play analysis of execution of individual players, injury types (contact vs. incidental to contact vs. non-contact).

I have no idea if there is any connection between AL's approach in TC2019 and the high number of injuries seen to date. I do believe if a player is cleared for full contact, then they should be practicing to the fullest extent. I especially think the projected starters need to have that practice. I think the current CBA has language that limits or controls the amount of contact allowed in TC, which I think plays a part in the injuries. I also think the evolution of the athlete, bigger, stronger, faster, might have reached a tipping point for the human body to tolerate the contact. Interesting question you bring up SJ.....one I suspect the NFL is looking at closely.

Al's premise was based on no/few injuries IMO. It makes sense in that over the long season it takes it's toll.

Giving a starter a low number of plays in G5 might make sense when looking at the totality of the season, but not having your starters play any meaningful amount during the preseason seems to have set them up for poor play and/or injury.

I do not see the correlation between limited snaps in PS vs injury increase. if there where, we would see more wide spread issues league wide. Poor play probably. NE traditionally has struggled early I think. They limit and have limited for years

They limit and have limited for years I think the entire limiting aspect is a tough balance between exposure to injury and getting enough meaningful plays to be ready to go G1. I would tend to lean more on getting meaningful plays in during preseason, with an idea of getting them rest during the season as needed.

I would agree to the theory if we got clobbered in game one. We won game one.
We lost games 5, 6, and 7 to shit teams. That's not due to limited practice. That's due to us being a more shit team.

Losing those games was much more due to being forced to play reserve level players far too many plays because of injury......the depth is not good enough.

We are not running his back up. We are at 3rd string for Center, and that story is all over the field for us. Its not going to go well at that point.
Here's a heads up from me: Da Bears are coming. Brace yourself. They just lost and they are at home. They are coming and hell's coming with them. It's Mack Truck time in Chicago, and Feeney is in the way.......................................think of that for a minute........................... Have Taylor warmed up on the sideline.

Injuries are very high, and talented depth is not......pretty much the reason I see no action from FO on AL and staff. AL really needs to go way outside the box.....start Rivers first series with a normal Bolt offence, then pull him for Taylor and a run option heavy game plan. Bears will not have practiced or prepared for that. Then at halftime, come back out with Rivers for the rest of the way. Trick plays, crazy offence and defence stuff, way outside the box thinking.....kinda like that HC at Boise State a few years back. Nothing was off limits for them. Maybe Bolts steal a game against the Bears......

Does not winning end the hopes for post season play?
