I think tampering is far more of a rare occurrence than you believe, and in a very subtle fashion. No GM's or registered player agents would risk it, as getting caught would be a very serious mistake. I can see the following as the more likely way a club would go about 'tampering': GM talking with HC, 'we need to upgrade at OT and I hear Smith will be a FA this year. Do we have anyone on the club that knows Smith? HC says 'yea, Thompson knows Smith really well' GM 'good, let us be certain that Thompson knows we will be really interested in Smith if Smith gets to FA'...... The get out of jail card is the bold. You can be certain that top players have all had little bits of information float to them well before any FA starts. Belichick tampered the living hell out of Antonio Brown. I know that's hard to believe with the Patriots being choir boys. Wasn't AB released suddenly by the Raiders, which made AB available to all that wanted to call.......or are you saying the Patriots were talking with AB before the release?

Brown orchestrated his departure from the Raiders and people have speculated that he already had a deal in place with the Patriots. He he gave the Raiders no choice but to cut him. Why would he do that without a plan?

I think the Patriots were just quick on the draw and grabbed AB. If any proof of tampering were to come out in the same year as Spygate 2.0, there would be some serious hell to pay. It would also be something AB could use as leverage to staying on the team, AB might be crazy but he's not stupid.

Way before the release, medium before the release, after the release, and the reason for the release.

Tagging Henry for $11M might be rational if they cannot work out a 3+ year deal.
