I've made updates to my cluster of 13 players to take with our first round pick. There's more player info available now so I re-evaluated some guys and factored in our Position Of Need.
To me, PON for our first round pick is Offensive Tackle, one specific Tight End, Defensive Backs (but not Safety), Edge Defenders, and Line Backers.
So there are no QBs, WRs, RBs, IOL, or other offensive positions besides those listed above, and a few defensive positions not worth a #1 to me.
My list, in this order to me:
Penei Sewell- If we had the #1 pick this year, I would take Sewell.
Kyle Pitts- The best receiving threat in the draft and a generational talent. Instant mismatch, and could pair with Herbert for a decade of abusing defenses. (Yes, I still salivate thinking about it!)
Rashawn Slater- Didn't Jeremiah rate Slater as better prospect than Sewell? I may not agree, but that says a lot about Slater. And not as a Guard but as the Left Tackle, obvs.
Patrick Surtain- The #1 Defensive player on Jeremiah's rankings and a PON for us!
Micah Parsons- Hey I love high character guys, but I'll always prioritize on the field performance to off the field miscues.
Jaellen Phillips- There's no consensus on who is the BEST edge defender in this draft, but I think it's JP.
Kwity Paye- Because edge is such a high PON for us, I'll slot two of them back to back on my list.
Teven Jenkins- He has the temperament of my mother-in-law so I know he'll bring a coveted nastiness to the O-line. And he has her size.
Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah- This is my second 'personal crush' (the first being Jenkins above), his speed and TT's love o' the Irish make JOK irresistible!
Zaven Collins- because we can't seem to keep enough LBs healthy for an entire season, and Collins is a thumper! Big and fast enough, but mainly big.
Christian Darrisaw- Because Left Tackle is (currently) our biggest PON. But no one seems to love him. He's like vanilla ice cream... you get dessert, but it's just vanilla ice cream.
Jaycee Horn- Being the son of Joe Horn is a huge plus to me, but if Caleb Farley wasn't an injury concern I don't think Horn would make my list even at this PON.
Caleb Farley- I am scared of his recent back surgery and the potential injury risk. We injure our own players before game time so drafting someone with injury history seems redundant. But Farley otherwise has all the makings of a legit #1 DB so if medicals checked out (sic!) he would be worth a first round pick.
The five bolded players are guaranteed NOT to be available at 13, but I still listed them in the extremely rare event that one of them slid and we subsequently traded up to grab him.
I am certainly higher on some of these guys than "draft experts" or you may be. But it's that time of year, and I don't mind you critiquing my choices for the sake of entertainment and banter among CMB cohorts.

I would have Darrisaw above Jenkins......the injury/surgery scares me off from Farely, but I like the talent. The only one I would trade up for is the TE Pitts......and I hate trading up. I think Slater will be there, and that is the pick.

Oregon OT Penei Sewel discussed playing with Justin Herbert on the #Chargers:
“To block for Herb would be a dream....me and Justin are under the same agency.” Mentioned they’ve had talks about what it would be like to play together.

Oregon LT Penei Sewell says he has spoken to the Chargers “conversations have been made.” He smiled and laughed after saying that.

I would love for us to find a way to trade up for Sewell, I just don't think the Bengals will pass him up.

I would love for us to find a way to trade up for Sewell, I just don't think the Bengals will pass him up. Would love to add Sewell, but the cost would set the roster build back years. Sadly the Bolts are not even close to just one player away from a reasonable belief in a Super Bowl run. Give me Slater round one, and TT can go solve another need in the next round.

Players fall all the time. Anyway, as the dominoes keep falling with these pre-draft trades, I see 3 potential scenarios for our Bolts: SCENARIO #1 Bolts trade up for Sewell. Picks #1,#2,#3 - all QBs. Falcons #4 is a wildcard, taking Pitts or trade out for QB needy team OR "shock the world" and they take a QB. Bengals grab Pitts at #5 or who Burrow wants which is Ja'Marr Chase. If Pitts is sitting there at #6, Miami's phone blows up. Bolts ultimately make the best offer and will get Sewell (not Pitts) with a trade up to #6. We will later learn that TT tried to trade up to #4 with Falcons, but the asking price was too much. The trade makes sense because Bolts get the dream LT and Miami still gets to grab a WR at #13. SCENARIO #2 Bolts stay put at #13, and wait for it...yes, Patrick Surtain and/or Rashawn Slater will fall to #13. Dallas probably takes Jaycee Horn at pick #10. SCENARIO #3 Bolts stay put at #13, and take Christian Darrisaw (who will be there) or Jaylen Waddle (who will be there). If we can't get Sewell or Pitts, then it's Air Coryell 2.0 with superspeed Herbert to Waddle! Sign me up! It's going to be a fun draft regardless.
