Boy is round 2 exciting. The Chargers can do anything here. With the top 2 RB's gone in the first round, I would wait until Round 3. BUT fouts2herbert likes the North Carolina RB, so it will be fun to watch that play out. I would say CB, Safety, and WR are all in play for the second round. I would love the Safety Moehrig.....wonder what a trade up would cost? The hot rumor is Dallas LOVES Moehrig, and they pick ahead of us. We have to jump to get him !

Ok after reviews of different mock drafts , team needs and what seems to be current trends in the last weeks before the draft, here is my best guess for our draft 1st Rashawn Slater OT Northwestern 2nd Tyson Campbell CB Georgia 3rd Rondale Moore WR Purdue 3rd Rhamonde Stevens RB Oaklahoma 4th Royce Newman OG Ole Miss 5th Joshuah Bledsoe S Missouri 6th William Bradley-King LB Baylor 6th Sadarius Hutchenson C/G South Carolina 7th Ernest Jones LB South Carolina We will see how close I get Ok 1st round fell correctly (just not how I expected to get there needing the Bears to trade up for Fields) Lets see if any of Campbell , Moore and Stevens end up going to us today.

Which WR went before Pitts........Freak....Freak.....where are you? Great call by you. He beat Chase to the draft pick. What he went 4th and Chase went 5th. Thank heavens they went early, that left Slater for us. I have heard Pitts called generational talent at TE. He now has Matt Ryan throwing to him. Let's see if he can live up to it. I hate that much pressure put on a rookie. Good luck to Pitts !!! I think Pitts and Chase going in top ten was a foregone event, not too sure what else happened that was unexpected to cause Slater to be there at 13th. I do not think these super talented players have any concerns about pressure. They just go out and play knowing they have been the best at every level so far, and confident that will continue.

DRAFT DAY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I secretly want a WR. I know the value of OT. If we get a corner, get Surtain. If I was MADE to pick, I think Slater is our guy. Well villagers, I have done it again. How ? I made that pick in the Chargers draft contest.

Along with the run on CB's. The run of CB's and WR's ensured Slater was there for us. My take is, Denver has Mahomes and now Herbert in the division, they need a guy like Surtain... Dallas wanted Surtain but had other holes in the defense that are greater than their holes on the oline so they took Parsons. The Giants trade was huge too... They could have easily picked Slater. I think we got lucky...

It was definitely a calculated risk and the Chargers were fortunate, but based on other team needs and the expected run on QB’s, WR’s and CB’s I figured that it was a better than 50/50 shot that Slater would be there at 13.

One of the arts to drafting is "knowing" what the other teams are doing.

Joe, do you have any way of finding out if Slater was number one on the Chargers big board ? Not the usual bullshit where they are going to say so now no matter what. But the REAL scoop.

I’ll have to ask Matt Money Smith about that if I run into him around town. He might be privy to that info and may be willing to share it off the record.
