I am happy I was wrong and the Herbert was the correct pick going forward. I would have rather kept Rivers for a final year and taken Makhi Becton to solve the Left Tackle spot. Herbert has shown he can win despite the poor coaching/play calling. But what also has been shown is like Rivers last year, he is not able to overcome our poor OL against a quality defense.
I'm hoping for a coaching change but it would not shock me if it does not happen.
on OL I can see Tevi (as a backup) Lamp and Feeney being resigned. Turner will be back but I hope they write off Bulaga who should never have been signed with his injury history as well as it was a repeat of Hardwick waste of cap space bringing back Pouncey.
At this point I can't see a fix for the OL coming from this draft. We have dropped too far down the board to pull off a trade to get Sewell. It might be a reach for Rashawn Slater or Wyatt Davis so best hope is with the drop in the salary cap that someone serviceable is cut we can sign. I don't see Henry or Mike Williams as well as Ingram being resigned. Kyle Pitts or Pat Friermuth or Jake Ferguson could replace Henry's production at TE for a lot less. Justin Ross (Clemson) in a later round could replace Williams, Gregory Jones or Patrick Jones II could take Ingram's spot.
We have resigned the important pieces already. Most left are lower cost. Herbert gives hope for next year but if the front office does not get him protection we may well be looking on the outside looking in again.

I think there will be a lot of really good cheap FA's this year. So a lot can be done to fix holes IF done correctly.

Cheap cheap cheap went the chicken. you mis understood. The word cheap was meant more as less expensive. There are a lot of teams that are going to have to let good players walk. I think signing some of them will not break the bank.

This perception of 'a lot of teams that are going to have to let good players walk' due to the cap issues a team might be facing seems to be becoming pervasive, and it is not anywhere as sure thing as it is being projected. The classic example is right here in NHL, where Tampa Bay was very cap challenged, with the pundits talking 4-7 really top players likely needing to go.....or perhaps the top two players going, just to get close to cap. Through really solid decisions, and perhaps a bit of 'luck' (if losing a top player to long term injury is luck), TB has managed with very little change to roster. My point is it can be done, and the smart GM's will most assuredly figure out a way to keep top players. If player is being allowed to walk free, buyer best beware.

Top guys cheap? Unh uh. We got lucky a couple times, got a good year or so from King Dunlap, Roman Oben but I've seen nothing that makes me feel confident about FAs. We have to draft well and have solid development of young depth.
