I like what I read about Brandon Staley (BS?). He sounds like a hard driving no nonsense football guy who has a track record of adapting to game time situations. Making second half adjustments has been one of the Chargers weaknesses. Staley's impact should be an immediate upgrade in this area.

That long article that was posted gave some insight to Staley, and his unique approach to defence. My only true concerns are not once in that article was it mentioned how good Staley will be at preventing injuries, and his clock management skills......

I'm surprised but excited. Right up front, I thought our D under performed. I was sure we'd be top 5 in fewest points allowed based on personnel(before the season started) and inj aside, we should have been better. "Defense Wins Championships" still echos in my memory. Entering 2nd halves and/or 4th quarters with a double digit lead and LOSING repeatedly is not acceptable. We should be a top D in 2021. His staff choices are going to be a big deal. I'm happy that we have our HC in place and working. There's a ton of work ahead for him, starting now. I wonder about Pep as OC. It's nice that Staley played QB.

Of course the D under performed, the talent was too busy playing video games while on IR.......

Always thought AL knew what to do when given time to think it through, but made poor decisions when under the gun. The injury issues have been festering for years. It started before AL and has not improved. The Chargers seem to have a reputation of overpaying free agents to ride the pine and collect a check. Is that on the coach or Telesco?

Well, here's where I'm at folks. We have no choice but to root for the guy. Its not like we can change it.
Here's to the next Football Savant !!!!!! Go Coach Staley !!!
(apparently Jalen Ramsey loves the guy and called Derwin James to tell him about Staley.)

"It's not just that Brandon possesses a tremendous football mine that make him the ideal head coach to lead our team forward," said Telesco, a John Carroll graduate, in a statement. "It's that he excels in the ability to effectively tailor, apply and communicate his concepts to players. It's clear Brandon will not be outworked, he's the football equivalent of a gym rat and that has earned him the universal respect of the players he has coached throughout his journey."
Telesco said the Chargers were looking for a leader of men, and a leader of coaches. They believe they have found him.

I just heard an insider report that they are looking to retain the offensive staff already in place. I think they want the continuity for Herbert.
I think our new HC is gonna be a defensive focused devil. Nothing wrong with that.
I think ?? Marty was our last "defensive minded" coach ? Do I have that right ?

Well, in my view tearing your acl is on neither, but the 'my back hurts this week' is clearly on TT/Spanos.......

Fingers crossed is all we can do, eh?

I don't know, he could just as easily be similar to Lynn in results....500'ish. Maybe he wins a Super Bowl..... I am much more curious about if this hiring was a panic move, or was he their guy early on.They NOW say he was the Guy all along. Did you think they were going to say he was 8th on the list ?? Of course not. ALL information coming out of late was that they wanted Brian Daboll, to work with Herbert. Something happened to have that fall out.Next up ? Staley. I believe Daboll passed for some reason
