So much for the Daboll was a sure thing. I have no clue what to think about the hire

Bold move.
If this doesn’t work out the Spanos family will have solidified their places as gutter trash owners.

Here's the pertinent resume of experience (from Wikipedia):
Chicago Bears (2017–2018) Outside linebackers coach Denver Broncos (2019) Outside linebackers coach Los Angeles Rams (2020) Defensive coordinator Los Angeles Chargers (2021–present) Head coach
I had to Google Brandon Staley because I knew nothing about him. Now I know he's been in the NFL all of three years, of course one season has been at the penultimate Coordinator level.
I'm not saying this isn't a good hire, I'm just saying I have NOTHING to base a prediction on except this past season as the Rams DC- and with all the studs on that defensive like Jalen Ramsey and Aaron Donald (and others mind you!) I can't really use that to say how well Staley did.
My best guess is Staley was the only candidate willing to accept the Groupon from Spanos for 50% off the first year and every other year.

Just to clarify my position and follow up on my prior comment: I hope the next coach is successful.
If they keep Steichen I’m going to laugh my ass off.

Only thing I have picked up about him is that he worked closely with Vic Fangio , Rams D was 1st class but with Ramsey & Donald that is a great start. Maybe he can do simular with Bosa & James.

I’m not sure if I’m more disappointed or afraid of how bad this can be when wunderkid brings in a bunch of awful coaches.

Shocked. They went with a guy whose resume barely qualifies him to be HC of a D-III college team. He must be a great interview but let’s face it he shouldn’t have been on our list. I’m not against hiring a defensive minded coach but good lord at least have some hair on your balls.

From a Rams Reporter @jourdanrodrigue · 13m Brandon Staley is going to put together a staff as well, and two names who could draw interest for OC job are Kevin O’Connell (current Rams OC) and Thomas Brown (current Rams RBs coach). Both have previously been highly endorsed by McVay especially as developers of young talent.
