I enjoy talking about the draft, mock drafts, and speculating about rookies, BUT six weeks of free agency can drastically change a team's needs before we even get to the draft at the end of April! Important NFL Dates- - March
- 3/9: Prior to 4:00 p.m., New York time, deadline for clubs to designate Franchise or Transition Players.
- 3/15-17: Clubs are permitted to contact, and enter into contract negotiations with, the certified agents of players who will become Unrestricted Free Agents upon the expiration of their 2020 player contracts at 4:00 p.m., New York time, on March 17.
- 3/17: The 2021 league year and free agency period begin at 4:00 p.m., New York time.
- April
- 4/5: Clubs with new head coaches may begin offseason workout program
- 4/23: Deadline for Restricted Free Agents to sign offer sheets.
- 4/29-5/1: 2021 NFL Draft, Cleveland, Ohio.
[/ul] So here's a link to top free agents by position- www.profootballnetwork.com/top-2021-nfl-free-agents-each-position/ Who do you want the most? One of the OTs? Re-sign Hunter Henry? A veteran QB to backup Herbert? Leonard Floyd? And of course acquiring a veteran FA will allow us to draft differently and/or maybe the draft pool at a position is shallow, dictating that upgrades must be found in free agency?
Lots to consider and it all combines to shape the future of the team. Even knowing the new head coach and staff has probably changed some draft and free agent targets! So what one free agent would you like to see added?

1) Brandon Scherff, Washington Football Team-----there's our OT. TT, Over Pay the Man !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That TE list looks like dog crap. There are 5 of 7 I wouldn't even bother with. Can Parnham grow again in 2021-2022 ?
I'm surprised I don't like the RB list more than I do. Jones, Drake, and Lindsay would work.
Robinson and Schuster work for me at WR.
TT, Get me the OT, and a WR. We'll do TE and RB in the draft. That is all

Today, I’d probably most like to sign a still-young, nasty, physical, reliable center to anchor the line. Pay for it.
After that, I’d look for a strong, developed CB1 and WR2.
After that, I think resigning Henry would be on the radar.
Grab the rest of the future line in the next two drafts and pickup some depth FAs.

PER PRO FOOTBALL FOCUS TOP 100 FREE AGENTS 2021 www.pff.com/news/nfl-2021-free-agency-top-100-free-agents25. C COREY LINSLEY Linsley is the best center on the market. He’s been one of the most dependable pivot men in the league since 2014, and he’s been at his best in 2020. Linsley has been outstanding in pass protection this season, allowing just four pressures on 437 pass-blocking attempts in 2020. He is also a strong run-blocker, ranking in the 84th percentile in the percentage of positively graded blocks and the 85th percentile when it comes to avoiding negatives. Contract Analysis: The Packers made left tackle David Bakhtiari the highest-paid offensive lineman in NFL history in the middle of the 2020 season, and that probably closed the book on any Linsley extension in Green Bay. However, PFF’s top-ranked center could be a highly sought-after free agent for teams who want a veteran player to step in and take some of the pressure off a young, developing quarterback. Prediction: Chargers sign Linsley for three years, $33M ($11M APY): $16.5M total guaranteed, $10M fully guaranteed at signing.

Besides Linsley I would not mind Alejandro Villanueva
33. T ALEJANDRO VILLANUEVA There’s immense value in solid, mid-tier offensive linemen, and that’s exactly what Villanueva has been throughout his career. He’s graded between 74.0 and 82.0 in each of his last five seasons; he ranks in the 54th percentile in PFF pass-blocking grade and the 46th percentile in pass-blocking grade on true pass sets during that time.
There’s a similar level of dependability to Villanueva’s game as a run-blocker. He ranks in the 74th percentile at avoiding negatively graded plays but just the 23rd percentile in positively graded plays. NFL teams must avoid having disastrous options at offensive tackle, and Villanueva’s profile makes him a valuable asset.
Contract Analysis: Villanueva has had a remarkable NFL career after serving in the U.S. military, going undrafted and then working his way to becoming one of the league’s best left tackles. Nevertheless, the Steelers will have a very tough time retaining Villanueva after pushing all their chips in on 2020. We wouldn’t be surprised if Villanueva, JuJu Smith-Schuster and Bud Dupree are all playing elsewhere in 2021, purely for salary cap reasons.
Prediction: Chargers sign Villanueva for three years, $45 million ($15M APY): $30M total guaranteed, $20M fully guaranteed at signing.

My list was only in (my view) order of importance, not operation.

Woody, I'm thinking the same- Trent Williams is 32 but OTs can still play at a high level into their mid to late 30s, can't they? So 3-4 years of a pro bowl caliber Left Tackle who is an experienced veteran seems like a good fit for Herbert and the offense.

And I'd like to see more Parham instead of paying big bucks to Henry (but would love him back at the right price) and especially over any of the other TE free agents. (And maybe draft Pitts??)Except for re-signing Henry, I doubt we'll pursue a free agent TE, and I don't think we'll target a big name RB or WR (but Mike Davis should be added to your list of decent RBs available) I think because of Staley we may go after more defensive free agents though- Leonard Floyd is already being rumored, and Leonard Williams would fill a void here- not that we have unlimited funds for every big name though!
