Back to the real world in our search for a left tackle.

Back to the real world in our search for a left tackle. We must be targeting LT in the draft. Its too early in FA for me to get a solid read, Joe. But if the draft was today, it would have to be a LT. There are OT's left. Age is a factor. It's all in what the plan is. Of the remaining ones I would take KC-Eric Fisher. If his injury scares them, a short term solution is Alejandro Villanueva.

I believe missing Eric Fisher was a major reason KC lost that Superbowl, but at the same time I'm not sure how his injury will effect future performance. As coveted as LT's are though, you gotta take a chance it seems.

Back to the real world in our search for a left tackle. Oh my ever-loving nerve that's a lot of money! Good for Trent Williams, but wow- I don't think I'd be willing to go that high or if TT signed an OT for that much I'd be less than thrilled. I just realized I'm cheap. Or maybe I just want to spread the cap around to many players. Or maybe these huge numbers have progressed faster than I'm able to keep up and I still live in 1990s dollar value??

Trent Williams is 32... You think he makes it another 6 years? He'll get his 85 million and then some, but he won't sniff the entire 138 million.

This NFL FA period is starting to look eerily similar to the NHL's flat cap FA period. If it holds true, then the big signings we have just heard about will become actual as they are allowed to sign, then it should get pretty quiet.....as clubs wait out the left over FA's. As the music slows, the pressure to get a deal done will grow, and there will be club friendly signings ahead. Has there even been a WR or RB signed yet? I get the feeling that the best contract for them will be the first one. Might be wise to be first.....

(Those pesky Jags have been active in FA. They are setting the table for drafting Trevor Lawrence. Signings like Marvin Jones is how you take care of a star rookie QB........................AHEM...........Cough Cough........................AHEM............)

Word is that Urban got turned down by the bigger name free agents who signed elsewhere even though the Jags offered more $$$, which includes the two big Chargers oline. They had to settle for the two WR’s - and had to overpay to get them.
