Friday night I was a bit disappointed in the Chargers Round Three picks of Palmer and McKitty. Being "just a guy who's a big NFL/Chargers fan" and not anywhere near an expert on draft prospects, I read and research a little bit from those so-called experts- the writers and analysts for college and pro football. So their rankings and opinions heavily influence mine. And NONE of them had Palmer as a third-rounder! None of them had Palmer in the top WR rankings, and there were other WRs available who were popular names and 'higher-ranked' when we selected Palmer. There were also lots of players at other positions of need who were ranked and popular still available! So I took this a big reach from Telesco. But once I looked into Palmer a bit more, from the videos AFB posted, and some things written about him BEFORE the draft, and even his own intro video from the Chargers I'll admit to reconsidering my initial disappointment. He seems like a good character and player, and perhaps he really is an "overlooked" diamond in the rough. Which is the characteristic I think both our third rounders have in common- neither was maximized in their college careers and have plenty of untapped potential that may ( may!) see them become better pros than they were college players. Especially Palmer. The TE class was rather boring after Pitts so I was neither giddy or upset with the McKitty pick at 97 (but still felt there could've been better players at other PON). In summary, like everyone else. I loved the first two picks. I was a little disappointed in round three but I'm coming around on them. I actually like Rump in round four, which is a good spot to take a risk/reward player like him. From round five on, possible bench warmers and ST players but nothing to get excited about. My LEAST favorite pick was the RB in round six. Seems like he won't eclipse the fourth RB currently on the roster, who was an UDFA last year. I as well was a tad bit perplexed with the picks 3 and 4. After reading some comments on here, I suppose I see the strategy in picking Palmer, although I think there is a pretty big difference in talent between MW and Palmer. Time will tell, hoping he is very good. The TE pick is still not resonating with me, and I think it will prove to have been a poor use of that pick. Of course hindsight is unfair on it's face, but reasonable if the other options proved to be overwhelmingly better choices.

Samuel wasn't exactly an OL pick, and I love that pick. Someone does need to get over it......nobody is buying the false narrative you and buddies are perpetuating.

Yeah, perplexed that they weren't offensive linemen. Get over it. Samuel wasn't exactly an OL pick, and I love that pick. Someone does need to get over it......nobody is buying the false narrative you and buddies are perpetuating. They'll get over it when we end up with 11+ wins next year. We're not the only "OL crack-addicts". TT/BS/JL are now OL crack-addicts, too! The re-building of the IOL will improve this team's record by 2 wins... and a quality LT will give us another 2 wins. JH, and receivers, will have more time. RB's will have more running room. Defenses will have their hands full. We'll pick up 3rd and short. We'll score TD's in the redzone now. The grumpy old men group will sing songs about us. And none of those songs will begin, "There once was a man from Nantucket..."

I think McKitty is a project and won't see the field much. Cook and Parnham are the guys for now. Mckitty is going to be “2020 parham” in 2021, both donald and mckitty have a future with the chargers, at least for the next three years. Anderson might be out this year, I like the idea of the chargers keeping the UDFA tight end from oregon instead, he probably already has rapport with justin. In 2022 it’ll be parham, mckitty, and kampmoyer on the depth chart. Cook is strictly a one year place holder to give these guys a year to grow.
