Below is a list of our own players set to hit free agency. I got this list from: www.boltsfromtheblue.com/2022/1/11/22876779/chargers-free-agents-2022-kyzir-white-uchenna-nwosu-harris-linval-joseph and I assume it's accurate and complete. So who on this list do you want back? Some are obvious "bring him back if the price is right", but some of these guys are lesser known and some are just bad at any price. Unrestricted Free Agents
CB Chris Harris Jr. nope, we're all done here folksDT Linval Joseph sure, I'd like to see Linvall back, DTs need to rotate so he'd be fine in that capacity even if playing full-time is no longer in the cardsWR Mike Williams probably the most controversial free agent, but I'd love to see Big Mike back for consistency... but not at a bank breaking cost! TE Jared Cook sadly, no. There are younger TEs just as good- and many even better!OG Oday ABoushi yes, if his injury and health are positive. He was exceeding expectations before he went on IR.CB Ryan Smith He's probably a good special teamer... how would I know? So I'm neutral on him.EDGE Kyler Fackrell yes, I liked what I saw from Fackrell... he's good not great but he's a gamer.EDGE Uchenna Nwosu Of course- the last game of the season cemented- if it wasn't already obvious- that he has come along quite nicely. LS Matt Overton Who cares?OG Michael Schofield Nope. There are better linemen out there. There just has to be. OG Senio Kelemete When you make Pipkins look good you don't get re-signed. KR/PR Andre Roberts Most defintely! Despite the fumble in the last game. For the first time in YEARS I watched kickoffs with hope and not trepidation. K Dustin Hopkins Absolutely! Let's stop feeding kickers to the rest of the league.QB Chase Daniel Neutral. Do we need him? No. Would ANY other backup QB play near the caliber of Herbert? Also no. DT Christian Covington Yes. Another young up and comer who played better than expected (not great, but gave his best) CB Davontae Harris I don't know- is the DB that sucked hard in the Texans game? Or the below average DB in the other games? If it's the latter then No, and if it's the former then HECK NO! TE Stephen Anderson Sure. DT Justin Jones No question!LB Kyzir White No brainer.C Scott Quessenberry Sure. RB Justin Jackson Hmmmm, I'm leaning towards yes. But we still need to release all other RBs except AE and upgrade.Restricted Free Agents
S Trey Marshall Probably not because I had no clue he quit Home Depot and joined the Chargers.P Ty Long I'm actually down on Ty Long and would like to see a young rookie here. Assuming the rook is a UDFA- never draft a punter! NEVER!Exclusive Rights Free Agents
WR Jalen Guyton Well he and Ty Johnson both failed to repeat last season's success. Neither should be getting more than the minimum from whatever team they go to next year, but I doubt it's us.TE Donald Parham Yes, and we should use him more. He's 6'9 for crying out loud, throw the ball high. That's it, no fancy routes or plays- just raise your hands up and jump, the ball will be there.OT Storm Norton I'll get for flack for this one but I'm a sucker for XFL players so it's a yes for me. He is NOT starting caliber, but he (and Pipkins) have improved and hopefully continue to do so to be an adequate and cheap backup.
That's my thinking. What about y'all?

Why wasn't there a plan, and if there was a plan, why wasn't there an adjustment when the plan failed? It can't be that hard, as clubs do this to Bosa all the time.....

I see them saying and doing the following: “Process over results.” (Direct quote from Staley presser.) They’re committed to their plan and their way. That stubbornness—if it doesn’t secure a championship next season—will make them look completely ego-driven and incompetent. “Their way” and “process over results” only works when it does; the rest of the time it results in termination and unemployment.

That's no longer happening. I get what you are saying and I can get on board with that being the case. It is no longer the case. It all changed on the night of Jan 9th 2022. It is results now, and the changes that bring about those results. TT and Staley know it. They have their shot to fix it. They will take their shot now. I don't even have to worry about them fixing the run defense. I don't even have to worry ABOUT TELLING EVERYONE THIS SEASON THAT OUR RUNNING BACK GROUP SUCKED AND THE GOALIE AND OTHERS ARGUING ABOUT IT. Not worried anymore. They have no choice. No options. Times up over plow ! The Coupons have expired. BROTHERS, THEY ARE ALL IN OR THEY ARE ALL OUT of jobs.

S Trey Marshall Probably not because I had no clue he quit Home Depot and joined the Chargers. I say keep him to compete with some UDFAsCB Chris Harris Jr. nope, we're all done here folksCB Davontae Harris I don't know- is the DB that sucked hard in the Texans game? Or the below average DB in the other games? If it's the latter then No, and if it's the former then HECK NO! CB Ryan Smith He's probably a good special teamer... how would I know? So I'm neutral on him. The boltz should draft a day-2 CB and upgrade, if possible, in FA. I agree on letting CH jr walk.LB Kyzir White No brainer. YupEDGE Kyler Fackrell yes, I liked what I saw from Fackrell... he's good not great but he's a gamer. EDGE Uchenna Nwosu Of course- the last game of the season cemented- if it wasn't already obvious- that he has come along quite nicely. Bosa needs a good counter-part who can draw the chips & double teams away. Are these guys lookin good because Bosa gets the attention? I would keep Nwosu and try to upgrade Fackrell in FA.
DT Justin Jones No question! DT Christian Covington Yes. Another young up and comer who played better than expected (not great, but gave his best) DT Linval Joseph sure, I'd like to see Linvall back, DTs need to rotate so he'd be fine in that capacity even if playing full-time is no longer in the cards Yes on Jones & Covington. I would use a Day1-2 pick on this position
C Scott Quessenberry Sure. OG Oday ABoushi yes, if his injury and health are positive. He was exceeding expectations before he went on IR. OG Michael Schofield Nope. There are better linemen out there. There just has to be. OG Senio Kelemete When you make Pipkins look good you don't get re-signed. OT Storm Norton I'll get for flack for this one but I'm a sucker for XFL players so it's a yes for me. He is NOT starting caliber, but he (and Pipkins) have improved and hopefully continue to do so to be an adequate and cheap backup. Keep Schofield to compete with Jaimes, and let Aboushi walk. The boltz have been burnt many times with FA o-linemen getting hurt early and staying hurt. I agree on Quess & Storm.
QB Chase Daniel Neutral. Do we need him? No. Would ANY other backup QB play near the caliber of Herbert? Also no. Do we need to keep Stick?RB Justin Jackson Hmmmm, I'm leaning towards yes. But we still need to release all other RBs except AE and upgrade. Definitely agree on drafting an upgrade.
WR Mike Williams probably the most controversial free agent, but I'd love to see Big Mike back for consistency... but not at a bank breaking cost! WR Jalen Guyton Well he and Ty Johnson both failed to repeat last season's success. Neither should be getting more than the minimum from whatever team they go to next year, but I doubt it's us. I think both are gone. Maybe Guyton stays to compete for a spot.
TE Donald Parham Yes, and we should use him more. He's 6'9 for crying out loud, throw the ball high. That's it, no fancy routes or plays- just raise your hands up and jump, the ball will be there. TE Jared Cook sadly, no. There are younger TEs just as good- and many even better! TE Stephen Anderson Sure. I agree with all your takes. Cook has a bad case of the dropsies when Herbert fires them in.KR/PR Andre Roberts Most defintely! Despite the fumble in the last game. For the first time in YEARS I watched kickoffs with hope and not trepidation. K Dustin Hopkins Absolutely! Let's stop feeding kickers to the rest of the league. LS Matt Overton Who cares? P Ty Long I'm actually down on Ty Long and would like to see a young rookie here. Assuming the rook is a UDFA- never draft a punter! NEVER! Yes on all.
----------------- That's my thinking. What about y'all? Thanks for posting this. I rearranged the format a bit. See comments above.

It's not very complex when you AVERAGE giving up 160 yards on the ground in away games. I don't want to hear anything else until about late night April 29th.

I don't want to hear anything else until about late night April 29th. Yes, they as a unit gave up far too much over the year. To correct that might not require the amount of resources you imply, or may require far more drastic moves by TT. The season ended, the puzzle was busted back into individual pieces, ready to be reassembled. TT knows he has his corner pieces, and there are straight edge pieces that are obvious, then is gets more challenging. What pieces work together, what need to be discarded, what new pieces will be discovered......fun time of the year for GM's that enjoy roster building.

THE SAME COACH gave up a league leading 91 yards on the ground the previous year. Coach is the same. Doesn't it have to be players ? You cannot trust the exact same players to have a different result next year. That is unacceptable to even suggest that. Need run stoppers period.

The players are pretty much the as well.....so if we are looking for excuses: injuries, play calling, facing different clubs (yes I know the AFCW is a constant)..... So with that said, I would be looking for two DL and one ILB, that push starters from last year to the sidelines next year. TT finds those three upgrades, and the defence finds health in general, it might make for a dangerous club.
