Slippery slope is slippery... Not commenting on the validity of the accusations but the NFL did this to themselves.

Ross offered him $100k to lose games and improve draft position? I wonder if he has any proof of that?
Belichick texting him thinking he was texting Brian Daboll is priceless.
I don’t think the allegation that the Rooney rule is a PR stunt only is surprising to anyone. Going to be a reckoning I imagine

I think there are two truths to this, in our current socio-economic-legal-media climate.
1) This is heavily slanted at best (speaking of a PR stunt), or all bullshit at worst.
2) The NFL has more than enough money to make this go away in the way that they please.
Like it or lump it.

I’ve previously wondered how much interviews really impact who gets the job, in the case of Professional Sports Coaches. Candidates are sought after because of what they’ve recently accomplished via job performance, and yes I’m sure it’s not rare for a Team to have a clear first choice before any interviews take place. Do candidates get passed over for these jobs, because they blew their interview, or does anyone ever prevail over a previous front runner because they nailed their interview ?
The Rooney Rule sets requirements for interviews only, which in the big picture may not mean a hell of a lot. For the Rooney Rule to actually be successful, it would mean that someone gets a job because of their interview AND that compliance with the Rooney Rule is the only reason why that interview took place. How many times in history could that have actually happened ?? If a Team hires a minority candidate because of their past performance, the Rooney Rule is irrelevant.
I don’t think you can take away the Rooney Rule either, without getting similar backlash. It should have never been created in the first place, because it can not realistically work, but since it was created I think it’s here to stay. That of course means there are going to be plenty of “compliance” interviews taking place every year, which I can certainly understand being insulting to those who are being used for that compliance…
