The question should be phrased, is this current roster better than the roster from last year at this exact same time? Kendricks is supposed to be an upgrade in the defence alignment effort. Zion has a year of experience, that has to be noted. MW isn't healthy, as he was this time last year. Add in his issue is his back, and that does note bode well. Drafting QJ might prove to have been quite savvy...... So, with everyone essentially healthy again, this roster looks very very talented. I would say it has improved, from last year to now....stay healthy, go to SB! I don't see a difference in the question either way, but ok. You also left out no JC Jackson, No Bryce Callahan, and no Kyle Van Noy... among others. I'm not going to say we are more talented and I'm not going to say we are less talented, the only thing not giving me warm fuzzies is the secondary. I did...... I worry about JC completing his recovery and being as good, but fingers crossed, eh I also liked Van Noy, but there was a disconnect between him and club, not too sure where. I think it was position.....but who knows. The loss of Callahan might be an issue, might not.....hoping not. I like the roster....can it be better, always a yes.

Didn't he start a players only weekly meeting for the defense. After which the season started to turn around. Not saying the meetings caused that, but maybe helped. Perhaps some took issue with that approach.

I'm not sure what caused it, but it sounds like it's just not going to happen. Like you, I was impressed with Van Noy down the stretch and wanted him back, but I'm just a dude behind a keyboard. EDIT: I just did a search of Van Noy's Twitter timeline (@kvn_03) and I can't find it. I'm pretty damned sure that I didn't imagine it, so he must have deleted it.

I saw the tweet saying the chargers told him they wanted to get younger. They’ll sure be dumber without him

Bills signed Leonard Floyd to a 1 year deal. He and Von Miller are reunited. A guy I thought Staley wanted instead of bringing KVN back off the board

KVN should have been signed no doubt.

Has there ever been any comments from the Chargers about the reasoning behind not pursuing KVN? I liked his play, seemed like a club first guy, but who knows what goes on that we do not see or hear about.

Kendricks is the green dot, on field ILB team leader. KVN was a good guy locker room leader. Different jobs.

The job that KVN would fill is still open, unless u think Rumph and the 20 year old rookie are adequate. I dont

I dont Matt Smith and Chris Hayre were discussing the plethora of veteran edge rushers who are still on the market in the latest Chargers podcast. Floyd obviously has a history with Staley, but he wasn't one of the names that they were bringing up (Clowney, Houston, Clark, etc.) I have to imagine that the Chargers are still on the market for a vet and will try to snag one as the price tags start to come down sometime before training camp opens.
