Melvin Ingram come home !!!! Houston, ingram and Frank Clark? Those are the guys they want to get “younger” at the position? Smith was saying that the move away from KVN is not necessarily a move to get younger: the focus is on an edge player who can hold the edge against the run in addition to applying heat with the pass rush. KVN showed he could apply the heat with the pass rush, but the ILB / edge hybrid’s strength as a down lineman wasn’t holding down the edge. Not a knock on Van Noy, but he’s not a physically large down lineman. Pretty much everything this offseason is geared towards improvement on stopping the opponents from running the rock on them like they’ve done at will over the past two years. Smith was particularly high on Clowney as a potential fit. Although his sack numbers have decreased, he still gets a lot of pressures & hits on the pass rush while being a rock holding the edge against the run. However, in the end it’s about being in the ballpark of what other contending teams can offer.

I think he has plenty left in the tank to serve as a rotation guy / short-term injury replacement for Bosa or Mack, and that’s what the Chargers would / should be looking for in the free agent market.

Yet the Vikings let Kendricks go for the exact same reason. KVN should have been signed no doubt. Has there ever been any comments from the Chargers about the reasoning behind not pursuing KVN? I liked his play, seemed like a club first guy, but who knows what goes on that we do not see or hear about. Dear White Wizard of the North, Can you keep your wildfires to yourself ? The smoke here is bad. Sun is amber, smelly smoke, and my eyes are thrashed. Irritated even painful. Thank you, American.

But even fewer may be willing to pay what he should be able to ask for. I definitely see the Bolts in that latter group. Cook may offer a discount to certain teams he'd like to play for (I heard Miami is one?), but early on I suspect he'll be out of the price range for most.

I have heard Aaron R. and the Jets.
