Fouts has been tirelessly advocating for Coryell, year after year. He wouldn’t let go of this and that, more than anything, is why Coryell finally got a spot in the HOF. He must give the speech.
I’ll just say that Coryell’s teams were simply fun to watch. The offense was innovative and surprising. You never really knew what he was gonna pull off from week to week. I watched him as a little kid at SDSU and was thrilled when the Chargers hired him. He took a team over in mid season and turned them around into a 2 time AFCCG entrant. We never got the ring but should have in 1980 before Klein began dismantling the squad. Congrats Coryell family!!
