I think Rice will become a good NFL receiver. He needs more than one pre-season to get there. I have bought into the hype. More importantly, Rice has bought into his own hype and other teams will take a flyer on him. I can easily see him signing with a different practice squad or being poached from the Chargers practice squad. I prefer to keep both Fehoko and Rice by keeping seven WR and three RBs or place Chark on a designated IR. I am not making excuses but can see how my reply could be interpreted that way. My point was that the poor QB play in preseason games makes that stat mostly meaningless. Like I said before my sample size with him is extremely small. Perhaps, some of the hype he has received being Jerry’s son has put me off a little. I’ve seen plenty of people on the interwebs projecting him ahead of my boy Ladd on the depth chart. That doesn’t help either. At the end of the day, I hope he succeeds since that will only make us better. They are all on crack too.

That stat looks bad until you realize who the QB was. Very true but... I'd love to keep Rice as a developmental player, but over Fehoko? I'd be fine with him staying or going, this one is on Harbaugh /Hortiz. Based on pre-season games, I agree that Fehoko has outplayed Rice. Fehoko is also 26 years old with four years NFL experience. Looks like Fehoko is closer to his ceiling than Rice is. How desperately do we need WR#6 to contribute this year? PS. I added Hortiz to your post cause I think his opinion holds a lot of sway in the decision.

I will go out on a limb and predict BOTH Rice and Fehoko are cut today (and headed to the practice squad). I think we'll add "upgrades" from others teams cuts and will need more roster spots.
