Having lost a friend, Tim Gallegher age 58 as a result of traumatic brain injury on Mar 8 of this year, I'm sensitive to Kyle's decision. Tim was a MLB at CSU Chico and briefly on an NFL scout team. Kyle was a smart, high effort player who lacked elite speed. I respect his decision & wish him well going forward.

I, too, am dismayed at some fan's instant disregard of Kyle Emmanuel. While he isn't (wasn't) the top Linebacker in the league or even on the team... he WAS on the team!
The odds of being an NFL player is something like 0.0005% of the U.S. population. For Kyle to have earned this distinction is quite an honor and an accomplishment.
Good luck and God bless in you retirement, Kyle. I hope you work hard and find the same success in your next career as you did as a Charger.
Make that even more successful!

I would say Emanuel was a good edge-setter on running downs, but his lack of coverage skills made him one-dimensional. And nowadays, more and more, teams are looking for LB-Safety hybrids who are 3-down players, who can tackle AND cover...hence the Bolts signing Davis, who even in his advanced age still has some gas left in the tank... He was a liability when playing football. You already said that he "stunk". I guess you felt compelled expound on your riveting viewpoint of Kyle.
Bravo.

/bow I even managed to stay on topic. Tough to do, right bud? To clarify, the Bolts won't miss KE the player one bit. Because he was bad at his job. If you raked up the dregs of the NFL, there he'd be, stuck in the tines. Next man up, you've got a low bar to step over.

The chosen one is retiring! Who will take over the chosen one’s jersey number? 🤷♂️ It used to be Pouncey's number.....................
the Return to Glory is at hand.

I can't believe all the nasty comments.
Those who say he was useless, get this - the Bolts used a second round pick last season to draft a replacement for Emanuel but Emanuel retained his position as the starter. Was he a great LB? No, but he was good enough to be a starter for the years he was on the team. In fact, he filled in surprisingly well at a position he had never played before (MLB) after Perryman was injured last year. I agree with you on the nasty comments. Hey, he was a participant on our playoff team, and we drafted him. We needed to upgrade from him, but I don't have ill wishes on the guy for heavens sakes.
Nwosu, I am staring straight at you........and your 2nd round selection too.................................................

Run off on your keyboard all you like, Kyle was not the worst starter on our 6th ranked 2018 defense. Hard to imagine how we were so good with only 3-4 non-dregs.

On a more constructive note... anyone have any draft favorites to put at SAM? Able to set the edge and be good in coverage? And don't give me "Thomas Davis". If he had to set the edge every play (should Nwosu get hurt) TD wouldn't last long.

If started running endzone to endzone today, he might finish by draft day. If he tried taking on a pulling guard he'd end up a comical cartoon shape planted in the grass. He's the Chris Watt of linebackers. I'll say this for KE, he really saved his best for last. This is the best play of his entire career. Well done sir!

Emanuel was a free agent that they Chargers AND OTHER TEAMS expressed no interest in SIGNING (retaining). There...fixed it for 'ya!
(Though reportedly, the Raiders showed interest in Emanuel...I wouldn't be surprised if they signed him, pumped him for playbook info, then cut him loose in TC or preseason...)
This post dropped you 51 million spots in my estimation. Poor. Just piss poor.
