Kyle announced on Twitter he is calling it a career, perhaps he saw the Seau 30 for 30 promo?

Emanuel's replacement is already on the roster: Thomas Davis...

Emanuel was a free agent that they Chargers expressed no interest in retaining.

Emanuel was a free agent that they Chargers AND OTHER TEAMS expressed no interest in SIGNING (retaining). There...fixed it for 'ya!
(Though reportedly, the Raiders showed interest in Emanuel...I wouldn't be surprised if they signed him, pumped him for playbook info, then cut him loose in TC or preseason...)

The chosen one is retiring!
Who will take over the chosen one’s jersey number? 🤷♂️

All the best to KE. Dude stunk though, we needed new blood at LB whether he came back or not.

All the best to KE. Dude stunk though, we needed new blood at LB whether he came back or not. I would say Emanuel was a good edge-setter on running downs, but his lack of coverage skills made him one-dimensional. And nowadays, more and more, teams are looking for LB-Safety hybrids who are 3-down players, who can tackle AND cover...hence the Bolts signing Davis, who even in his advanced age still has some gas left in the tank...

He played hard, was a good team man in the locker room and an asset in the community. I wish him all the best in his retirement and have no worries about him being a success now that he has stepped off of the playing field. 🍺

Emmanuel is not set for life upon retiring upon the expiration of his rookie 5th round pick four year deal.
Not counting the taxes deducted and the agent’s take, Kyle got a $210,000 signing bonus while his first three seasons’ salaries were near the NFL minimum. Only in the last season of his contract did he earn more than $1 million ($1.9 million).
Having said that, I have zero concern that he will be one of the 30ish percent of NFL players who are broke within three years of their retirement (voluntary like Kyle or forced like so many).

I can't believe all the nasty comments.
Those who say he was useless, get this - the Bolts used a second round pick last season to draft a replacement for Emanuel but Emanuel retained his position as the starter. Was he a great LB? No, but he was good enough to be a starter for the years he was on the team. In fact, he filled in surprisingly well at a position he had never played before (MLB) after Perryman was injured last year.
