Wow ! TT walked from way superior talent to fill a need......hope he is right in the evaluations. This is true. There were higher rated players. But all teams have their grades. The pick was in early, so I think he was on the Bolts board as a high.

A Big Nose Tackle / DT Type....Love this pick to plug the run If he can plug the run and the highlight video shows non stop pass rush TT may have delivered with this pick. Now Oline in round 2 or 3 and I am a happy fan.

Wow - Tillery. Surprises me. I've seen his name come up before. He is strong. If can eat up two OL... Its a win. I think Jones is going to go well too. Together the run D should be much better The operative part is Tillery drawing, or requiring, a double team......if not, more of what they already have.

Write-up from Daniel Jeremiah's top 50
"Tillery has rare height/length for the position. He is a very streaky player on tape. As a pass rusher, there are games where he dominates (see: Stanford game, when he logged four sacks) with a combination of quick hands, power and effort. However, there are other games where he's content to hang on blocks and play too high. In the run game, he flashes the ability to stack, toss and pursue the ball. He still needs to lower his pad level, but he rarely gives ground at the point of attack. Overall, Tillery isn't going to fit every team, but he shows some flashes, similar to DeForest Buckner. He just needs to become more consistent."

Good enough for Gus, good enough for me. He has developed young players into great defenders for years.

I sense that most people aren’t happy with the pick but if you look at the body of work as a whole, this a great pick for us considering what we have lacked these past few season. This is a guy who not only can rush the passer from the inside but can play the run which is what we really struggled with at the end of our playoff run. Always remember that we GMs on the internet hold no merit compared to TT. We can say that more superior talent was left on the board but TT has a different board than everyone else
