Perhaps, but deeming a 5th round pick as poor when it happens is absurd. Not if you are speaking to the position the pick represents versus the actual player. I would not have taken a QB in any round. Then you clearly misread the Chargers philosophy and system

Boltnut -
I did pick an OT in the first but another team got him. Happens every year. Tillery was in my cluster though. You and me both, buddy! Always a bridesmaid... never a bride... But that's what re-do's are all about... www.nfl.com/draft/tracker/picksWho you got? I went with OT Greg Little in the 1st. See the rest on post 1 page 1. I wanted Andre Dillard. We could have played him at RT and I also liked that he could play any other position on the OL. I'd have been happy as a clam though if they had picked Little. There were so many highly rated defenders that I thought we would have a good shot at getting our OT in this draft. As it turns out, we got Pippen in the third so now all we can do is pray he'll learn fast and become that OT we've been wanting for about a century.

Yeah, I liked Dillard too. All of these amazing first round OT's we've passed on over the years. And the one we draft in the 1st round is Fluker... makes me wonder if we're gun shy. Makes me wonder if we know what the hell we're doing at all when it comes to OL.

The clubs go through the year building dossiers on all of these players, then they finalize it down to a ranking, or big board. The decisions make themselves when top of board intersects with PON. TT said it this year, they had Tillery as the last player rated with a 1st rd grade, so he had to be their top of board.....and need was off the charts. It might have been interesting if an OT (with a 1st rd grade) and Tillery were both sitting there.....plenty of need at both positions, the discussions might have been pretty intense.

The same "Big Board" that had Sioux Falls going in the 3rd Round ?
I've seen better big boards on Candyland.

I'm glad you aren't our GM. You'd pass over some great players because they played at a small school. The HOF has a lot of members that played at small schools.

We're lucky Rivers is so durable!

No idea.....did TT go away from his big board to address a PON ? Seems unwise, but GM's do that sometimes.

The same "Big Board" that had Manti Teo as the "last player rated with a 1st rd grade" several years ago... The same "Big Board" that had Justin Jones (52) rated higher than Harrison Phillips (68)... Funny things those "Big Boards"... some listed Fluker as an OT... some listed him as an OG... would love to see Fluker's "dossier". Probably just a manila envelope decorated with gold stars and glitter. Lamp's dossier probably had notes about his short arms...
