NBA off season off to a roaring start with Lakers landing AD. This is what the Lakers have historically done; go out and land the best big man they can find. They had George Mikan, got Wilt, got Kareem, got Shaq and now land AD. Pressure is now on Lebron to show that he can still play at the highest level. Truth be told, I would have done this deal without Lebron. AD is only 26 and he’s a superstar level player. Never liked Lonzo, his dad or his brothers. Ingram had a health scare and was the most lackadaisical guy on the court. Hart was a nice role player. The guy they had to keep was Kuzma and they did.
I hear the big target now is Kemba Walker.

If Kawhi comes to the Clippers, LA becomes basketball heaven.

Kemba very well may be a target, but I would be shocked if they are able to land him. He is super-max eligible, so could get $44.2 million/year x 5 to remain with the Hornets. The Lakers don’t have the cap space or rights to touch that. I think Kemba’s heart is also in Charlotte, and having MJ as an Owner has to carry some weight as well. He has already come out and said that the Hornets are his priority. Your best bet might be a Demarcus Cousins type situation, with a guy like that willing to sign for cheap. In fact, Cousins himself might be a candidate, as he’s gonna be available.

If Kawhi comes to the Clippers, LA becomes basketball heaven. If Kawhi signs a 2 year extension with the Raptors, then he becomes eligible for a Super-Max after that contract is up. As of right now, because he was traded, he isn’t eligible for the type of contract he currently deserves, he needs 2 more years of tenure with his current team for that. After 2 years is up, LeBron is likely out of the picture, so he could even go to the Lakers if he really wanted to move to SoCal. But he could also decide to stay with the Raptors even longer, and make the most money available to him. The Raptors don’t have any cap space to upgrade their roster this year, but they will remain mostly intact. I think Danny Green is as good as gone, but pretty much everyone else will be around, and then the following year, they get some hefty contracts from aging players (Gasol, Lowry, Ibaka) off the books and have some nice cap space to work with (in addition to a very nice young core that will be primed up come that time). Add that to the list of reasons why I think he remains a Raptor...

New thread, new set of essays. Blame the guy who started this thread for that one...

If we're only going to have the NBA discussed on a Chargers forum, might as well have two threads to do it.

On which thread do I post news about the Raptors' championship parade? If its good, post it here. If its like the GM having charges for shoving policemen, post it in the old one. It'll go away faster.

Only 2 shot The shooting wasn't at the parade and probably had no connection to it given the location of the incident in relation to the parade. Bay Street and Albert Street (where the shooting occurred) is to the east of Nathan Phillips Square, the site of the rally. The parade came up University Avenue and entered the Square from the west side. If someone was trying to cause trouble at the parade they would have been on the west side of Nathan Phillips Square.

I guess the headlines saying 2 shot at Raptors victory parade and video of part of the crowd running for cover are fake news.
