The shooting wasn't at the parade and probably had no connection to it given the location of the incident in relation to the parade. Bay Street and Albert Street (where the shooting occurred) is to the east of Nathan Phillips Square, the site of the rally. The parade came up University Avenue and entered the Square from the west side. If someone was trying to cause trouble at the parade they would have been on the west side of Nathan Phillips Square. I guess the headlines saying 2 shot at Raptors victory parade and video of part of the crowd running for cover are fake news. You are getting smarter.......

On which thread do I post news about the Raptors' championship parade? I went to the parade, couldn’t get anywhere close to the rally site though, so I’ll have to try to catch that on TV or Youtube. My plan for the day worked damn near perfectly. We took the UP Express Train in from the airport, and got in & out Downtown with ease. Got a spot in the shade right outside the doors of a Union Station, and didn’t have too much crowding where we were (but it was still a little more than I prefer). The only thing that messed things up is the parade was severely delayed. It should have got to us by around 11:15am, and it didn’t get there until almost 2:00pm. We were standing/sitting in place for about 6 hours. My daughters (5&8) were getting very restless which was making me lose my patience too. It could have been much worse though, I had to remind them several times they were sitting in the shade, when countless people were standing in the sun all that time. I enjoyed the parade, just wish the players wore their jerseys, because it’s not so easy to recognize them in street clothes in a crowd from a distance. There were probably 50 or so people on every bus deck, and mixed in there were family members (or unknown staffers), and a lot of them dressed similarly. I was able to pick out Kawhi, Siakim, Lowry, VanVleet and Drake. Couldn’t really identify anyone else. I noticed Anunoby in one of the photos I took, but couldn’t notice him in the moment. Overall though, I’m glad we went. Cross that one off the bucket list...

The parade came up University Avenue and entered the Square from the west side. If someone was trying to cause trouble at the parade they would have been on the west side of Nathan Phillips Square. I guess the headlines saying 2 shot at Raptors victory parade and video of part of the crowd running for cover are fake news. Concerning the headline, it's more a case of inaccuracy than anything else. The key is the location listed on the police report: Bay Street and Albert Street. The shooting happened on the east side of Bay Street. Nathan Phillips Square (where the rally was held) is on the west side of Bay, which would be close enough for part of the crowd to hear and react to the shooting, which occurred as close as you could get to the rally without it actually happening there. That explains the discrepancy between what you saw and what I posted. This isn't just semantics. As I said earlier, if someone was trying to cause trouble at the parade they would have been on the west side of Nathan Phillips Square earlier as the parade was approaching. The shooting happened around 3:45 p.m. after the parade had ended and while the rally was occurring. By the way, here's the headline in the article posted on the CBS News web site: "Several people shot near Toronto Raptors rally, police say" www.cbsnews.com/news/toronto-raptors-parade-shooting-in-nathan-phillips-square-leaves-at-least-2-injured-today-2019-06-17-live-updates/

If its good, post it here. If its like the GM having charges for shoving policemen, post it in the old one. It'll go away faster. Nice parade. Only 2 shot Put close to 2 million people on the streets together in today’s World, and that’s actually not a bad outcome (as sad as that is). I almost got in 2 fights myself, which is less than half the amount of what I would face at a Disneyland parade... Edit - I’m not trying to make light of what happened. It’s very unfortunate whenever something like that happens. I’m more making a statement on how it’s sad that incidents like that almost should be expected in today’s World, anytime there is a mass gathering of people. There really isn’t a way to tighten up on security either, when it’s out on the open streets.

There really isn’t a way to tighten up on security either, when it’s out on the open streets. The extra security that was part of the parade and rally ended up arresting three suspects. If this shooting happens at another time, the suspects might well have gotten away. My gut feeling is that the shooting may not be connected to the rally; instead the shooter(s) may have hoped to use the celebration as cover for their activities.
