His 958 yards is not Gordon's 1375 yards, and he is not the answer to replace either.
Next.
Ekeler might not be the answer, but there is an answer out there. Simple truth is if MG holds out until week 10, Bolts will just look elsewhere for their RB needs. Will their choice be worse than MG, or better, is something to be discovered. No worries. We signed RB Derrick Gore

SC was once tailback U. Again, we have 3 UDFA’s and a 7th rounder. Roll the dice Ekeler gained almost 1000 yards, as a reserve player.....Bolts have better options than succumbing to blackmail. TT is wise to relax and watch this play out. Thankfully TT is much wiser than you are judging from what he said today.

The 'we love Gordon, we truly love him' all the while whispering 'no new contract coming'......yep, TT is playing both roles, good cop and bad.

We have some posters getting destroyed:
"I'm not naive: I know we're better with Melvin Gordon," Telesco said
"My only thought process is he's playing here," Telesco said. "He's an L.A. Charger."
REACT WHILE YOUR EYEBALLS ARE ON FIRE RIGHT NOW !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If that's factual reporting and MG isn't happy to have his salary doubled this could lead to a parting of the ways. I hope not because he's our #1 and it's never good to lose your #1 at any position.

So why exactly is he holding out? 🤷♂️ When I was just spitballing numbers early on in this thread, these are the numbers I was talking about. But nope, not good enough for the back who has had injury issues and one 1,000 yard season. He wants the same money as the dude who was the NFL offensive player of the year when he got the contract.

Just spitballing numbers here, but I could very well see the Chargers having made an offer something like this: 4 years / $45 million $16 million signing bonus ($4 million / year cap hit over life of contract) Year 1 salary: $2 million guaranteed ($6 million cap charge) Year 2 salary: $7 million guaranteed for injury or if he is still on roster three days prior to the start of free agency ($11 million cap charge) Year 3 salary: $9 million not guaranteed ($13 million cap charge) Year 4 salary: $11 million not guaranteed ($15 million cap charge) This way, MG gets money upfront with the hit being spread over 4 years and will give MG a shot at UFA status early in his mid20’s. On the other side, it also protectsthe Chargers in the event that the RB who has already had microfracture surgery on one knee and suffered another knee injury last year continues to miss a lot of football or doesn’t put up close to top-of-the-league production. However, if a player and agent are looking for a Todd Gurley top-of-the-market contract, such an offer would be viewed as being an insulting one. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm ... How about these numbers???

If those reports are true and the Chargers offered him $10-$11mm a season he should take that. He hasn’t earned Gurley numbers and won’t be asked to carry a full time load. Come on MGIII
