I think he has a chance because we spent a 3rd round pick on him. You don't want that poached off the practice squad in his 3rd month in the league. Everyone in the draft knew he was raw and needed development. There is a small chance that a small school raw guy is just going to start out the gate.
I am not really well versed in PS stuff, but I would believe they will try to protect their investment with Pipkins.
I really think that depends on how well he does and how high on others radars he actually was/will be by TC week 4. Canada doesn't count. I get the thinking that 3rd rounders are valued, but that doesn't mean he actually belonged there. Obviously, I like to see him excel. I like to see MG back in camp too. The bolts have a good shot at the trophy this year. I'll take any advantage. I tend to think Freak's belief they protect their investment in Pipkins will be quite influential in the decision. I also think Pipkins will need to be showing serious promise to make the team versus being put on the practice squad. With a single preseason game completed, it is too soon to have a strong idea which way they might be leaning. Canada always counts.......

Give Pipkins a little rise in your stock price if two things are true: They used a 3rd round pick on him, and he hasn't even been paid his first week of a rookie contract.
He's cheap, and he's gonna stay cheap for years. That's valuable in a Cap league.

Not if he should be working at Home Depot with a certain other former Bolt.......

Not if he should be working at Home Depot with a certain other former Bolt....... If there is any promise / hope, they’ll keep him on the roster. If it’s an obvious huge swing & a miss, they’ll cut bait sooner than later if they’re smart.

It is a very big jump, even if you have a ton of raw talent.

Nice article on 2018 practice squad member Andre Patton as he fights for a roster spot. He looked pretty good in both practices that I attended.

Never avoid talent, and it doesn't matter how big or small the school was.

Did you see the end of Coach Lynn's press conf. today ? Very interesting.
Paraphrasing: "Not going to keep the best 53 players, we want the right 53 players." "Its not all about the best, you have to have chemistry, team players.............."

Joey mic'd up? Just Wow! Let's play some football! As bad as the James injury is, it could be worse. I'd much rather have him coming back in mid-Novemberish than have him go out mid-Novemberish. The Bolts have a lot of horses on the defensive side of the ball where Gus (for the most part) can cover up whatever deficiencies there are in Derwin's absence ... especially if Justin Jones and Tillery step up like I saw them last week.
